The Jackson Department of Recre-ation, 96 West Veterans Highway, has announced that registration is currently being accepted for the following children’s programs for residents of Jackson. Call (732) 928-1200, ext. 255 to register.

"Kindercraft" – arts and crafts for preschoolers ages 31/2-5. The six-week program is offered Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m. or 1-2 p.m. The fee is $12.

"Me and Mom" – arts and craft for parent and children ages 31/2-5. Classes will be held Sept. 30, Oct. 28, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9 at either 10-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-2 p.m. The fee is $6 per class.

"Junior Craft" – arts and crafts for children ages 6-14. The class is offered Oct. 23 and Dec. 4 at 10-11:30 a.m. or 12:20-2 p.m. The fee is $8 per class.

Georgian Court trip to see Broadway’s ‘Fiddler’

Georgian Court University’s ongoing series of theater trips begins again this fall with a Sept. 12 excursion to the Broadway revival of "Fiddler on the Roof." Tickets are $140 and include orchestra seating at the Minskoff Theater in New York City, round-trip transportation by motor coach from Georgian Court’s Lakewood campus to the theater, box breakfast and snacks. The bus will depart from Georgian Court University, 900 Lakewood Ave., Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. for the 3 p.m. matinee. Attendees can lunch on their own in the theater district. Representatives from Georgian Court’s Office of Special Events, which is sponsoring the trip, will be on hand to recommend restaurants

Alfred Molina stars as Tevye. Molina is known for his body of film work that includes character roles in such movies as "Chocolat," "Spider-Man 2," "Boogie Nights," "Maverick" and "Enchanted April."

Adelphia Fire Company

selects new officers

The Adelphia Fire Company, Howel, has announced the new officers elected at the July meeting. They are Greg Player, captain, Chris Marciniak, first lieutenant, Scott Dugan, second lieutenant, and Karan Grover, secretary. The Adelphia Fire Company junior firefighters will host car washes Sept. 26 and Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting, at the Adelphia Firehouse, Route 524. The cost is $5 for cars and $7 for trucks and SUVs. All proceeds will benefit the junior firefighter program.

Vendors being sought for craft fair in November

The Women’s Ministry of Calvary Lighthouse will host a craft fair at 1133 East County Line Road, Lakewood, on Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applications from vendors are being accepted. Call (732) 892-1006 or (732) 367-2106 to rent space or for details.
