Monmouth University, West Long Branch, will host its 10th annual fall investment seminar Oct. 23 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in H.R. Young auditorium in Bey Hall. The moderator will be Tom Byrne, president of Byrne Investment Research. Topics will include investment views, and financial issues and emerging markets in the current economy. Shrewsbury State Bank announced that East Windsor resident Eric Unger has joined the firm as an assistant vice president and branch manager at its Middletown office. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the facility, as well as development of new business for the branch. Prior to joining the bank, he was a branch manager at TrustCompany Bank. Shrewsbury State Bank has offices in Shrewsbury, Red Bank, Little Silver, Sea Bright, Middletown, Holmdel, the Lincroft section of Middletown, Keyport, and Ocean.

The U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) will sponsor “Building and Financing Your Business with the SBA,” a free business counseling and loan workshop for small business owners and start-up companies Oct. 22 from 8:45 a.m. to noon at Long Branch City Hall, 344 Broadway. Other sponsors are the City of Long Branch Community and Economic Development and Urban Enterprise Zone Program, Greater Long Branch Chamber of Commerce, Monmouth-Ocean Small Business Development Center. SCORE. (Service Corps of Retired Executives). Representatives will explain SBA loan and business counseling programs, and SBA lenders will also be available to discuss and review loan applications.
