Supplies for U.S. Troops serving in the Middle East are being collected by the Manalapan office of Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate. Associates from the Manalapan office are appealing to the public to help them collect a wide range of items, including baby wipes, razors, shaving cream, lip balm, knee-high stockings, socks, queen-size stockings, foot powder, Gold Bond powder, Band-Aids, bandages, heat wraps, hand sanitizers, antiseptic wash, tissues, feminine hygiene products, lotions, tooth paste, combs, hair brushes, deodorant, hair bands, dental floss, soap, mouthwash, body wash, insect repellent, cotton swabs, sunscreen, toilet tissue, ice packs, pencils, pens, writing tablets, envelopes, greeting cards, stamps, phone cards, playing cards, travel games, music CDs, disposable cameras, and food items such as cookies (packaged in cans), gum, hard candy, powdered drink mix, beef jerky, Oodles of Noodles, sardines, Vienna sausages, macaroni and cheese, cereal/power bars, trail mix, nuts, and crackers.

Supplies will be used to create “shoe box” care packages that will be sent to the troops. The office is also accepting cash donations for the purchase of provisions. Items may be dropped off at the office, 120 Craig Road, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more details, call (732) 780-6500.

CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, announced that 10 of its physicians are named in the latest edition of the “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area” guide from Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. The directory is described as an authoritative guide to finding the top primary care and specialty care physicians in the tri-state metropolitan New York area.

The CentraState physicians cited in the eighth edition of the guide, published in June 2004, include: John Baumann, M.D., radiation oncology; Jeffrey Chalal, M.D., radiology; Steven Goldstein, M.D., obstetrics/gynecology; Irwin Hametz, M.D., dermatology; Frances Liquori, D.O., family practice; Shelly Ludwig, M.D., gastroenterology; Paul Rossos, M.D., otolaryngology (ENT); Mark Seigel, M.D., obstetrics/gynecology; Edward Soffen, M.D., medical director, radiation oncology; and Michael Tendler, M.D., gastroenterology.

Sam’s Club, Freehold Township, will mark National Credit Union Week with an open house for members of credit unions. All nonmembers attending will be charged a 10 percent service fee on purchases. The event will be held Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Sam’s Club, 100 Trotters Way.

Alan Zwerin of Marlboro has passed Intuit’s QuickBooks Certification course work and has become a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. The official QuickBooks certification program tests in-depth knowledge of QuickBooks and its business management solutions.

To become a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Zwerin, who is president of AJZ Consulting, completed four interactive self-study CD-ROM courses. He passed online tests with a minimum of 90 percent proficiency. The required course work included installation and user set-up, tools to optimize client support, payroll, job costing, purchase orders and industry-specific issues. Zwerin plans to complete annual update courses.

Zwerin holds a master’s degree in accounting and has more than 15 years of business experience. AJZ Consulting is a full-service bookkeeping, accounting and consulting firm specializing in entrepreneurs and small to mid-size businesses.

Wegmans, Manalapan, will host a book-signing with Andrea Immer, master sommelier, Nov. 4 from 5-7 p.m. Immer will also demonstrate some of her recipes and offer tastes from her new book, “Everyday Dining With Wine: 125 Wonderful Recipes to Match and Enjoy With Wine.”

According to a press release, Immer is one of only 13 women in the world to qualify as a master sommelier. She is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, New York City, where she now serves as dean of wine studies. She was named Best Sommelier in America in 1997 and James Beard Foundation Wine and Spirits Professional of the Year in 2002. Immer is also host of the Fine Living Network’s weekly wine show, “Simply Wine With Andrea Immer.”
