Taxes/housing coalition to meet with legislators

Members of congregations and communities in Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Somerset counties will meet with legislators, mayors, and policy makers at the Central Jersey Public Assembly for Fair Taxes & Affordable Housing at 7 p.m. Oct. 28.

Sponsored by the Central Jersey Regional Equity Coalition, the meeting will take place at McCorristin Catholic High School, 175 Leonard Ave., Hamilton The 40-voice Trenton Mass Choir and the Hispanic Choir of St. Paul Catholic Church, Princeton, will help the group celebrate its victories. CJREC will call on public officials, policy makers and all who attend, to support fair tax reform and fair housing reform in central Jersey. The agenda features a call to challenge the state’s over-reliance on property tax for funding schools; end regional contribution agreements (RCAs); link affordable housing to jobs; revitalize urban areas and control suburban sprawl.
