Georgian Court University, Lakewood, invites the public to join them on a Civil War cruise on the Mississippi River aboard the Delta Queen cruise ship June 16 – 25.
The Delta Queen, historically preserved and maintained, is an echo from the great steamboat era that offers accommodations with private baths, showers and climate controls. The tour-which includes stops in New Orleans, Oak Valley Plantations, St. Francisville, Alexandria, Natchitoches and Baton Rouge-will feature noted scholars, historians and authors as they discuss the times and causes of the “war between the states.” Optional tours to explore battlefields and experience living history demonstrations are available.
