Allentown Garden Club to meet Nov. 11

  • The next meeting of the Allentown Garden Club will be held Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Allentown Methodist Church, Church Street (next to LaPiazza).
  • Michael Hsu, owner and operator of PeonyLand in Richlandtown, Pa., will discuss how to grow and maintain peonies and will bring pictures of the many different varieties available to home gardeners.

    PeonyLand is among the largest Chinese tree peony and herbaceous peony nurseries in the United States. It has been featured in numerous national newspapers and magazines, and they have displayed at the Philadelphia Flower Show.

    The club meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Methodist church. Beginners and experts alike from the surrounding area are welcome to join. For more information, contact club president Taryn McCarthy at (609) 259-6526.

    Holiday Emporium offers crafts, miniatures

    The Villagers of Allentown will hold its annual Holiday Emporium Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Allentown First Aid Squad building, Route 526. A variety of items, including crafts, antiques, collectibles and white elephant items will be available.

    The Villager table will feature miniatures of historic buildings from the Allentown and Upper Freehold Township area. Proceeds from the sale of the miniatures will benefit local charities.
