Joseph M. Koenig
Mr. Koenig, 78, of East Windsor, formerly of South River and Sayreville, died Oct. 15 in University Medical Center at Princeton. He was a chemical operator for 25 years with National Lead, Sayreville. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Litkowski Koenig; two sons, Mark Koenig of East Windsor and Mitchell Koenig of Pittston, Pa.; a daughter, Marilyn Kreutzer of Moore, S.C.; a brother, William Koenig of South River; two sisters, Beatrice Bianco of North Brunswick and Katherine Skwiat of South River; four grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Princeton Memorial Cemetery, Robbinsville section of Washington Township.
John R. Coyle
Mr. Coyle, 48, of South Amboy, died Oct. 28 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was employed as a truck driver by Cosco Wholesale Corp., Dayton section of South Brunswick, and worked part time with Capitol Concrete, South Amboy. He was predeceased by his father, Charles. Surviving are his wife, Colleen; his mother, Helen Coyle of Centereach, N.Y.; a son, Anthony Ellison of Reading, Pa.; a daughter, Crystal Hart of Bryant, Ala.; three sisters, Joanne Cullinan, Ronnie Youngs and Geri Smith; a brother, Charles; a grandson; an uncle; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Cremation was private. Willie C. Jackson
Mr. Jackson, 62, of Manalapan, died Oct. 22 at home. Born in Sparta, Ga., he had lived in Irvington before moving to Manalapan 11 years ago. Prior to retiring in 2003, he was a transportation coordinator for Xerox Corp., Suffern, N.Y. He was a communicant of Franklin St. John’s United Methodist Church, Newark, where he served as an usher, and was also a member of the church’s United Methodist Men, as well as its Sanctuary and Men’s choirs. Surviving are his wife, Annie; a daughter, Valerie Jackson, of North Brunswick; two brothers, Nathaniel Jackson, of Newark and Douglas Jackson, of Van Nuys, Calif.; and two sisters, Doris Jackson, of Springfield, Mass., and Rose Eva Jackson, of Landover, Md. A funeral service was held at Franklin St. John’s Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Ernest M. DeLeo
Mr. DeLeo, 80, of Monroe, died Oct. 17 at home. Born in West New York, he resided in Parlin prior to moving to Monroe in 1985. He was a head engineer for several years at U.S. Metals, Carteret, prior to retirement 21 years ago. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Monroe, and former communicant of and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. He was a member of Sayreville Knights of Columbus Council No. 2016, and its 4th Degree Assembly. He was predeceased by his wife, Margie J. Rhodes DeLeo in 2003; and a sister, Evelyn Trapp. He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ernest Michael DeLeo Jr., of Keansburg, Peter DeLeo, of Sea Bright, and Stephen and Patricia DeLeo, of South Amboy; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Ken Olivier, of Toms River; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Nativity of Our Lord Church. Burial was at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Arrangements were by Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin.
Lucius “Lou” F. Cassidy
Mr. Cassidy, 84, of Hamilton Square, died Oct. 17 at home. Born in Bayonne, he resided in North Brunswick for 20 years, prior to moving to Hamilton Square eight years ago. He was a security manager at the physical plant division at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, for 18 years, retiring in 1982. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He received the Silver Star for gallantry in action on Peleliu Island in 1944, and the Purple Heart for injuries sustained at Guadalcanal. He was a communicant of St. Mary Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 370, the American Legion, and Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Ruh Cassidy in 1997; a brother, Thomas Cassidy, this year; and a sister, Catherine Haut in 1996. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Maureen Cassidy of East Brunswick; a daughter, Barbara Kunkel of Hamilton Square; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary’s Church. Interment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were by The Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick.
