Talk on leadership of Eisenhower Dec. 7

The Center for World War II Studies and Conflict Resolution at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, will present a lecture by Col. Cole Kingseed Dec. 7 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at room 220 in the ATEC building. Kingseed will discuss “The Wartime Leadership of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower.” Local veterans George Waple, Eatontown, and Charles Nelson, Red Bank, will provide commentary regarding their World War II experiences.

Eisenhower biographer Kingseed is a former chief of military history at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. His talk will focus on Eisenhower’s leadership on D-Day, June 6, 1944, and during the Battle of the Bulge. The colonel is a 33-year Army veteran and has commanded at the platoon, company and battalion level.

Waple and Nelson both served as infantrymen in divisions participating in the Battle of the Bulge. Waple is also the author of “A Country Boy Gone Soldiering.”
