The New Egypt Elks National “Hoop Shoot” Free Throw Program at the Lodge level is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. This competition is open to all boys and girls ages 8-13. Registration will be held an hour before the event. Participants must be of age before April 1, 2005 and bring a copy of their birth certificate, which will not be returned. All public and private schools within the jurisdiction of the New Egypt Elks Lodge are invited to participate.
According to a press release, this event is the largest coeducational sports program in the country. More than three million children participated is last year’s contest.
The Elks’ nationwide sanctioned program gives youngsters an opportunity for spirited competition, fine relationships with their peers, and travel statewide, regionally and nationally at no expense to their parents or school. The parents of the finalists at the state, regional and national levels attend the competition as guests of Elks.
