Few towns have human relations committees

The Monmouth County Human Relations Commission announced that in a recent survey, only five of the 53 county municipalities have human relations committees: Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Middletown, Red Bank and Wall Township. According to the commission’s press release, human rights problems are best dealt with at the grassroots level, where residents can contact members with whom they are familiar, and where local needs and nuances are understood. Information on how municipalities can start their own Human Relations Committee is available by calling (732) 291-4257.
