Margaret “Marge” van Noordenburg

Mrs. van Noordenburg, 56, of Cream Ridge, Upper Freehold Township, died Nov. 13 at Capital Health System, Mercer campus, after a 14-month-long battle with cancer. Born in New York City, she was raised in Farmingville, N.Y., and had been a resident of Cream Ridge since 1969. She graduated from Patchogue Medford High School in 1966 and attended Suffolk County Community College in New York. Mrs. van Noordenburg owned and operated Marge’s Deli in Cream Ridge for almost 20 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret “Oma” and Joseph Themann. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Greta and Djamel Soltani of Hamilton; a son, John van Noordenburg of Cream Ridge; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Elfriede Themann and Joseph and Jean Themann, all of Medford, N.Y.; two grandsons; many nieces and nephews; close friends Gloria and Ronnie Brooks and their daughter, Dawn Marie, of Patchogue; and a host of other friends and relatives. The Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, was in charge of arrangements.

Earl S. Smith Sr.

Mr. Smith, 76, of Lakewood, died Nov. 24 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in north Philadelphia, he had resided in the Perrineville section of Millstone for 40 years before moving to Lakewood 10 years ago. A self-employed brick mason, he was the owner of Earl Smith Construction, Perrineville, for 40 years. Mr. Smith was predeceased in 1994 by his wife, Betty. Surviving are four daughters, Betty Hart of Marlton, Geraldine Bowser of Lakewood, Barbara Smith of Wrightstown and Mary Ellen Smith of Beverly; five sons, Earl Smith Jr. of Millstone, Kelvin Smith of Toms River, Thomas Smith of Lakewood, Edward Smith of Tennessee and James Smith of Browns Mills; two brothers, Herman “Sonny” Smith of Philadelphia and Henry Smith of Trenton; 40 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He also raised a niece and a nephew, Theresa and Daniel Smith. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold. Interment was private.

Helen Zuckowich Kennett

Mrs. Kennett, 85, of Freehold Township, died Nov. 18 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Born in Passaic, she had lived in Freehold Township for more than 60 years. She was employed for 24 years at Brockway Glass Co., Freehold Township. She was also a vegetable farmer with her son, John, in Freehold Township and had worked at Louis Plant Farm in Jamesburg, where she raised poinsettias and holiday flowers. Surviving are two sons, John A. Kennett of Freehold Township and Henry Kennett; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Vladimir’s Cemetery, Jackson, with Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements.

Harry M. Davison

Mr. Davison, 86, of Freehold, died Nov. 18 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Freehold, he was a lifelong resident. He was a landscaper for P.J. Schweitzer Co., Spotswood, where he was employed for 25 years before retiring in 1983. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4374 and American Legion Post 54, both of Freehold. Mr. Davison was predeceased in 1983 by his wife, Bertha Yapps Davison. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert W. and Claudette Davison of Brick, and Walter C. and Marlene Davison of Howell; a brother, David Davison of Freehold; a sister, Barbara Archer of Freehold; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. VFW services were also held.
