‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ to be staged Dec. 10, 11

  • The Sayreville Main Street Theatre Company will present its production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” at 8 p.m. on Dec. 10 and 2 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the Step Inn Ballroom, corner of MacArthur and McCutcheon avenues, Sayreville.
  • Advance tickets cost $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and students. An additional $2 will be charged for tickets purchased at the door. Prices include dessert and beverage.

    HSA to sponsor baking

    contest and cookie walk

    Sacred Heart Elementary School HSA will sponsor its annual Christmas Cookie Walk and Baking Contest from 4-6 p.m. on Dec. 18 and 7 a.m. to noon on Dec. 19 in the school cafeteria, Walnut Street, South Amboy.

    A variety of homemade cookies will be available for $5 a pound. Interested individuals may submit a sample plate of favorite cookies to be entered into the baking contest.

    All baking contest entries must be received by 4 p.m. on Dec. 18.

    The Township of Old Bridge Department of Parks, Recreation and Social Services will sponsor its annual holiday tree and menorah lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 in the municipal center courtyard, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.

    Our Lady of Victories Knights of Columbus Council No. 2061 will hold a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the council home, 775 Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville.

    Waterfalls will be topic

    at Sierra Club meeting

    Gary Letcher, author of the book “Waterfalls of the Mid-Atlantic States,” will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Raritan Valley Group of the Sierra Club set for 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Unitarian Society, 176 Tices Lane, East Brunswick.

    Letcher will present a 40-minute program featuring slides and tales of the diverse waterfalls in New Jersey.

    Admission is free of charge. The public is invited.
