Howell student invited to attend inauguration

Christina Rourke, of Howell, has been nominated to represent her school, Howell High School, where she is a senior, at the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference in Washington, D.C. in January. She is currently trying to raise the funds to be able to attend. Selected for exemplary performance in the classroom and an interest in leadership, Rourke will have the opportunity to join students from around the country for the inauguration of the president of the United States.

In addition to participating in many inaugural festivities, Rourke and fellow program participants will be able to take part in activities aimed at introducing them to lobbying, creating a political platform and the electoral college, among other things. Students will explore presidential leadership traits, campaign tactics and the history of campaign outcomes.

The Congressional Youth Leadership Council is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization.
