MANALAPAN — Under a ceiling reminiscent of a cold winter’s night sky in a room lit by candlelight and accented by lavender and silver, clients and staff of Studio 455, Route 9, drew on the spirit of the holidays to help raise money for a regional hospital.

Salon owners Richard Dalziel and Jean Gatyas figured they and their employees could count on the generosity of their loyal clientele to ensure a holiday fund-raiser’s success.

They were not disappointed as a silent auction made it possible for the salon to donate $2,600 to St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. The funds will be used for the benefit of children who are battling cancer. In return, the 100 or more persons attending the event were treated to a champagne fountain, hors d’oeuvres and pastry treats from Spargos in Manalapan.

Accompanying the treat for the palate was a feast for the eyes as models mingled and stood on perches to display the signature stylings of the Studio 455 staff and couture fashions supplied by Blame it on Rio, Colts Neck.

Salon manager Ginny Kissling was in charge of putting the event together. She said that for the Studio 455 staff, the spirit of the November evening was client appreciation.

Kissling said she attributed the evening’s success to the clients who not only helped the salon meet the goal as a charity event, but also made it possible for the staff to gather with their clients in a social setting, allowing them to show their appreciation for the salon’s six-year success.
