Livestock educational symposiums for N.J. vols.

Registration is being accepted for the fifth annual Livestock Youth and Volunteer Symposium, sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, New Jersey Junior Breeder Program, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, and the Department of 4-H Youth Development.

The symposiums provide educational programs for each livestock species, geared toward 4-H youth, Future Farmers of America (FFA) students, and breed association youth from grades 4 through 13, volunteer leaders and FFA advisors. They also offer a non-competitive atmosphere where youth from different project areas, counties and schools will have an opportunity to meet. Keynote speakers will cover topics that are pertinent to all aspects of animal agriculture.

A symposium will be held March 6, at New Egypt High School, New Egypt, with programs on sheep, dairy goats, meat goats, poultry and rabbits.

A second symposium will be held April 9, at Gloucester County 4-H Center, Clayton, Gloucester County, with programs on dairy, beef, and equine. All programs begin at 9 a.m.
