The financial services firm of Edward Jones, Freehold and Red Bank, was recently ranked No. 1 for the 12th consecutive year by the annual survey in Registered Representative magazine. The survey selects brokers and asks participants to rank firms in various categories. Jones received praise for its ethics, business focus and attention to the needs of its representatives. The firm’s ranking in the area of support also topped all other firms. The firm offers its clients investments such as certificates of deposit, nontaxable bonds and stocks.

The 15th annual Jersey Shore Home Show will be held Jan. 14-16 at Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown. The show will feature more than 125 exhibitors from Monmouth and Ocean counties. Gardening and landscaping professionals will be on hand to answer questions, as will manufacturers of home furnishings, cabinetry, appliances, air conditioning systems and other businesses. The show will also feature yard furniture and other items for the yard and display gardens. Tickets and sponsorships are now available for the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) 38th annual cancer ball scheduled for June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Middletown home of Morgan Cline and Ben D’Onofrio. Sponsorships range from $2,500-$100,000 and tickets are $500 each. The theme is “Hollywood Circa 1939,” and honorees are ACS supporters Susan J. and Robert J. Sorokolit, Rumson. The Middletown Postmaster, Peter Gaitens, encourages customers to use the postal services “Click-N-Ship” online service in order to save time and avoid a trip to the post office during inclement weather. The service calculates rates, finds ZIP codes, and keep a personal online shipping history. Click-N-Ship may also be used to send packages via express or priority mail. The Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce (NMCC) is currently in the process of creating an updated area map for northern Monmouth County, approximately 25,000 printed for distribution. The map is printed every 3-4 years, and is a sister publication to the Chamber’s “Guide to Northern Monmouth.” The Chamber is encouraging area businesses to advertise and promote businesses to residents and visitors via inclusion on the map. It contains a street legend, area map of the northern Monmouth and Bayshore region, and useful information. The map will be available at county, state and local government offices, libraries, real estate agencies, area rest stops, tourism centers and business sites. The Holmdel branch of Sun National Bank recently donated nine computers to The New School of Monmouth County, upgrading the systems the school previously owned. Rather than discard the nine computers, the branch offered the machines to the school as a donation for the children to use. Members of Sun’s information technology department assisted the school with getting the computers up and running. The New School is an ungraded elementary school that focuses on development of each child as an individual.

Wendell A. Smith, Holmdel, a name partner at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, was recently selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2005-2006. Included in every edition of the publication since its inception in 1983, Smith is listed in its real estate category. He is a member of Greenbaum’s real estate department and chairman of its planned real estate practice group. He concentrates his practice in land use and planned real estate development. Smith has been involved for more than 35 years in all facets of several hundred condominium, cooperative and other common-interest projects, and serves regularly as an expert witness in condominium and other community association matters.
