Dearborn Farms, 2170 Route 35, Holmdel, will hold two horticultural presentations given by Monmouth County Master Gardeners Jan. 22. “Everything About House Plants” will be presented by Carol Palmer at 11:30 a.m., and “Orchids and Their Care” by Murray Sherman at 1:30 p.m. The presentations are free, and there will also be giveaways, door prizes, and refreshments. Mathnasium Math-Only Learning Center, 1676 Route 35 south, Middletown, will present “Nifty Number Tips and Tricks” Jan. 24 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The free seminar will be given by Larry Martinek, creator of the Mathnasium method. The Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce announced that spaces are now available for its fourth annual business expo, scheduled for March 22 from 6-9 p.m. at Merri-Makers, Route 79, Matawan. Business owners and professionals are welcome to reserve spaces. The event will also feature prizes, DJ music, entertainment, a light buffet, and cash bar. Six employees at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, involved in nursing or interested in pursuing a career in the nursing field, were recently awarded a 2004 Harry M. Poppick M.D., Memorial Scholarship. Three recipients also received awards in 2003: Marianna Ingrao-Franco, R.N., nursing care coordinator on 3-East; Candy Malaspina, unit secretary; and Heather Zeveney, R.N., nursing care coordinator on 3-North. Also receiving 2004 Poppick scholarships are Linda Bayer, pharmacy assistant, Joanne Doherty, L.P.N., and Margaret Kinsella, R.N. The scholarships are named for former Keyport physician Dr. Harry Poppick, who was a founding member of the Bayshore Community Hospital medical staff, and was named Bayshore’s Most Distinguished Physician in 1987. The scholarship recipients were presented with their awards during a reception held at the hospital in November.

Wendell A. Smith, of Holmdel, Christine F. Li, of North Brunswick, and Dennis A. Estis, of Short Hills, recently authored the 2005 edition of “New Jersey Condominium & Community Association Law,” distributed by Gann Law Books. The authors are partners at the Woodbridge office of the law firm of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP. The book is designed to assist condominium and other common-interest communities in understanding the rights and obligations of common property ownership and enabling officers and board members of condominium and community associations to better understand their roles.

Li concentrates her practice in condominium and planned real estate development law, including the conversion of rental properties to the condominium form of ownership, community association law, and the acquisition, financing and leasing of commercial and residential real estate. She has extensive experience with the registration of planned real estate developments with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. Smith concentrates his practice in land use and planned real estate development, including large, mixed-use projects, as well as active adult, golf course and resort communities. He is also recognized for his expertise on condominium and community association law in New Jersey, and serves as counsel to the New Jersey Community Associations Institute. Estis concentrates his practice in the area of complex litigation relating to condominium and cooperative corporation law, real estate disputes, construction defects, utility law and environmental and municipal issues.
