The Monmouth/Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners will hold a dinner meeting Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Old Time Tavern, routes 37 and 166, Toms River. The topic of discussion will be “Women Need to Know More About Social Security!” Dave Delaney, senior public affairs specialist for the New Jersey Area Office of the Social Security Administration, will give the presentation and will host a question-and-answer session. ERA Brokers of New Jersey recently elected board members to serve on the ERA Brokers of New Jersey Board of Trustees for 2005. The board serves the 45 ERA offices in Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex and Union counties.

Named president of the board was Scott Lauri, president, broker/owner of ERA Absolute Realty, North Brunswick. Lauri also served as vice president and technology chairman of the board.

Other area members elected to the board are John Sharp, broker/owner of ERA Designs for Living, Old Bridge, elected treasurer; and Carol Ann Stevenson, broker/owner of ERA Advantage Realty, Freehold (Advantage also has offices in Manalapan, Keyport, Cream Ridge and Morganville), was elected secretary.

Sharp has served as the board’s treasurer the past seven years, and has 18 years’ real estate experience. Stevenson has worked in real estate 15 years, and served on the education committee.

The Keyport Republican Club will hold its annual reorganization meeting Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall at Third Street, Keyport. New officers will assume respective offices for the new year at the meeting. Guest speaker will be Kathy Shaw, director of the Keyport Business Alliance. The Rev. Henry P. Davis Jr., Navesink section of Middletown, was recently elected as chairman of the Monmouth County Board of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services at its annual reorganization meeting. Pastor at St. Paul Baptist Church, Atlantic Highlands, Davis has served on the board 12 years, most recently as its vice chairman. He is the moderator of the Seacoast Missionary Baptist Association of New Jersey, member of the Monmouth County Youth Services Commission, and Monmouth County Minority Youth Vicinage Committee. Elected first vice chairman was Edward Quigley, Ocean, assistant Monmouth County prosecutor.

Frank Ceravolo, Hazlet postmaster, has announced more than 15 prepaid phone calling cards were donated in December at the U.S. Postal Service, Hazlet, for distribution to military personnel and families through Operation Phone Home. Ceravolo extends his thanks to the residents, business community and employees in Hazlet for taking part in the effort. The campaign is designed to provide calling cards to servicemen and servicewomen overseas or military personnel that has returned from combat and are recuperating in military hospitals.

Metro Salon of Marlboro will hold a benefit on Jan. 23 from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. to raise funds for the tsunami victims. Several staff members will volunteer their time to provide services for clients who will make donations in lieu of payment for those services. All services for hair styling and nail care will be available that day, except for hair straightening and extensions. All proceeds form the day will go to the Red Cross International Response Fund. No appointments will be taken that day, and clients will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. Metro has a staff of more than 50 members. Wegmans Food Markets, with a location in Manalapan, announced that it has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund for tsunami relief. The family-owned food chain, which is based in Rochester, N.Y., also implemented a program in its stores for customers to contribute to the fund.

The Institute of Management Accountants will meet at Tommy’s Inn, Route 537, Millstone. Feb. 9 for an update on Excel skills. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the guest speaker.
