The Jackson Food Pantry was the recent recipient of the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company’s annual Food for Friends campaign.

Mark Blackwell, the Jackson store manager, presented the check to Elizabeth Stelevich, the director of the Food Pantry, which is sponsored by the Jackson Women of Today. Through the sale of “paper turkeys” in the Jackson store, more than $2,500 was donated.

Each year, Stop & Shop provides more than $12 million in cash, products and services to area food banks. This year, Food for Friends was held in conjunction with the Stop & Shop Turkey Express Program which donated more than 17,000 turkeys to food banks in the Northeast including the Monmouth-Ocean Food Bank.

First Washington State Bank drew the name of Dorothy VanArdsdale, of Jackson, as the winner of its “15th Anniversary Cruise to the Carribbean Drawing.” The drawing concluded a year of celebratory events and activities for the customers and visitors of the bank.

First Washington State Bank’s Jackson office assistant manager, Erica Baker, and the First Washington State Bank Regional Manager, Ann Leibner, presented VanArsdale and her husband Stanley (“Fugi”) with a $2,000 gift certificate and cruise brochures. The VanArsdales will be able to choose the destination and time of travel at their leisure.

An after-hours business card exchange will be held Feb. 23 by the Howell Chamber of Commerce at Independence Bank on the corner of Route 9 north and Salem Hill Road. The event will include a “Meet the Local Artist” segment, featuring Jim Stanberry from Stanberry Insurance. Stanberry’s watercolor art will be on display.

Monmouth-Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners will host a dinner meeting Feb. 24, 6 p.m., at the Sheraton Eatontown, Route 35 at Industrial Way, Eatontown. The topic is “Guerrilla Marketing and the Seven-sentence Marketing Plan for Small Businesses.”

Ellen Silverman of Ellen Silverman Associates LLC, Pluckemin, Somerset County, will discuss the “guerrilla marketing approach” for small businesses — low-cost, high-impact strategies that can be implemented for fast results.

MG Institute LLC, Freehold, will offer seminars on asset protection at the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, 17 Broad St., Freehold. Attendees may earn two insurance continuing education credits or two accounting CPE credits.

“Personal Asset Protection” will be offered Feb. 23 from 5:15-7:15 p.m., and “Commercial Asset Protection” will be held Feb. 23 from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

“Long-term Care Insurance and Long-term Care Benefits for Veterans will be offered Feb. 26 from 8:30-10:30 p.m., and “New Jersey Medicaid Rules” will be offered Feb. 26 from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

The Horse Park of New Jersey, Upper Freehold Township, announced that Kubota has been named the official tractor of the park, and that Hoober Inc. will continue its support at the facility.

The 147-acre Horse Park is a combination of private not-for-profit organizations and state government joining together to develop a world-class equine facility. The facility is on Route 524.

Kubota is a supplier of compact utility tractors featuring four-wheel drive models from 15 to 125 engine horsepower. Kubota manufactures its own tractors, utility vehicles, attachments and accessories such as loaders, mid-mount mowers and backhoes. Hoober Inc. is a third-generation family-owned farm business that began operation in Intercourse, Pa., in 1941 and now has four dealerships, two in Delaware and two in Pennsylvania.
