Police say two car break-ins at the Royal Oaks apartment complex on Henderson Road between Friday night and Saturday afternoon may be connected.
According to police, someone smashed the front passenger side window of a 1995 white Nissan Pathfinder on North Oaks Boulevard between 10 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and took five cell phones valued at $350 .
The phones, described as blue and gray LG LX1200s, belonged to the resident’s employer, PBS Communications of Schaumburg, Ill.
According to police the phones were in their original packaging and contained lithium batteries and battery chargers.
In addition, a Laurel Court resident reported that someone stole the tires and rims of their Honda Civic between 8 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. The tires and rims are valued at $800.
South Brunswick Police Detective Jim Ryan, spokesman for the Police Department, said instances like these are not uncommon with apartment complexes.
"Occasionally we will have a number of occurrences real quick in order, but that is for any location," Detective Ryan said. "Apartment complexes are more susceptible because of the amount of cars in the parking lots. We’ve also had it occur in areas of two or three streets."
