Alfred J. Bonus
Mr. Bonus, 77, of Sayreville, died Feb. 2 at home. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machine operator with Algro Knitting Mills, Milltown, where he worked for 40 years. He was predeceased by three brothers, Victor, Stanley and Frank, and by a sister, Lottie Geresy. Surviving are a brother, Walter J. Bonus of Spotswood; two sisters, Helen Solook of Sayreville and Eleanor Roman of East Brunswick; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Thomas Grant Buchan
Mr. Buchan, 86, of Helmetta, formerly of Monroe, died Feb. 4 at home. He retired in 1981 from National Lead, Sayreville, where he worked for 30 years. Prior to his full retirement in 1990, he owned T. Buchan Plumbing and Heating, Helmetta, for more than 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Grace Hoffman Buchan; two sons, Thomas Buchan and William Buchan; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was in Reformed Church Cemetery, also Spotswood. Joseph L. Fekete
Mr. Fekete, 91, of South River, died Feb. 11 in Care One, East Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was employed as a shop foreman with South River Waist and Dress Co., where he worked for 60 years. His wife, Helen Budish Fekete, died in 1998, and a granddaughter, Gloria Fekete, died in 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Pat Watts of East Brunswick and JoAnn Czapkowski of South River; a son, Joseph Fekete Jr. of Brick; a sister, Marge Bonalsky of Riviera Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A service was held at First Reformed Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
George Dikovicky
Mr. Dikovicky, 78, of South River, died Jan. 27 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was employed as a driver with the South River Sanitation Department, where he worked for 32 years. Surviving are a son, George Stan of Old Bridge; a daughter, Donna Kowalski of Edison; two sisters, Olga Drwal of Sayreville and Mary Martinowich of Piscataway; a brother, Anthony Dikovicky of Roselle Park; and three grandchildren. Esther Skordinski Fort
Mrs. Fort, 88, of Monroe, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Jan. 28 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Edward Fort, died in 1989. Surviving are two daughters, Audrey O’Brien of Pittston, Pa., and Irene Bastek of Monroe; two sisters, Helen Day of Dallas, Pa., and Kay Zaharchuk of the Hamilton Square section of Hamilton; two brothers, Andrew Skordinski of Mount Pocono, Pa., and Michael Skordinski of Florida; and two grandchildren. A service was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
Lorraine Wascavage Fleming
Mrs. Fleming, 73, of South River, died Feb. 8 at home. Surviving are her husband, Robert Fleming; a son, William James Fleming of Oceanside, Calif.; a daughter, Lee Ann Fleming-Semaan of Tustin, Calif.; a brother, Edward Wascavage of Old Bridge; a sister, Violet Copozzi of the Forked River section of Lacey; and three grandchildren. Viola M. Wosycna Garboski
Mrs. Garboski, 89, of East Brunswick, died Feb. 1 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1951, she was employed as a seamstress with Brodsky and Sons, South River, where she worked for 25 years. Her husband, Lawrence, died in 1985. Surviving are two daughters, Teresa VonDeesten and Cynthia Todoroff, both of East Brunswick; two sisters, Bernice Castagilia of Lyndhurst and Helen Stockel of the Parlin section of Sayreville; and four grandchildren. Mr. Mahoney, of East Brunswick, died Feb. 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He worked as a marine cargo surveyor for 50 years. For the past 15 years, he owned his own company, L. Mahoney and Co. Inc., East Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Jane Boetsch Mahoney; a son, Michael Mahoney of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick; and two grandchildren, Connor and Ryan Mahoney. Mrs. Sculerati, 91, of Monroe, formerly of North Brunswick, died Feb. 9 at home. Her first husband, Carl LaBarbera, died in 1965, and her second husband, James Sculerati, died in 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Marie Ross of Monroe; two sons, Carl LaBarbera of Spotswood and Ronald LaBarbera of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepdaughter, Lillian Everett of Mercer County; two stepsons, Daniel Sculerati of Baltimore and Charles Sculerati of Princeton; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pancza, 73, of Monroe, formerly of East Brunswick, died Feb. 9 at home. He husband, Albert J. Pancza, died in 1981. Surviving are two sons, Donald Pancza of Newtown, Pa., and David Pancza of Simpsonville, S.C.; two daughters, Ellen Marics of the Toms River section of Dover and Denise Willenbrock of St. Charles, Mo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a longtime friend, Warren Albertson. Mr. Sweeney, 60, of Elizabeth, formerly of Old Bridge and Monroe, died Jan. 31 in Trinatas Hospital, Elizabeth. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was employed for 39 years as an analyst with Ford Motor Co. Inc., Edison. Ms. Jastrebski, 87, of Sayreville, formerly of South River, died Feb. 1 in Summerhill Care Center, Old Bridge. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress through the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Joseph and Edward, and by two sisters, Helen Safaryn and Sophie Leonowicz. Surviving are two brothers, Stanley Jastrebski of Maryland and Frank Jansky of Perth Amboy; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Marcinczyk, 88, of Sayreville, died Feb. 6 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with National Lead Industries, Sayreville, where he worked for 40 years. His wife, Jean Dawson Marcinczyk, died in 1975, and a son, Raymond Marcinczyk, died in 1960. Surviving are a son, John H. Marcinczyk; two sisters, Helen Reed of the Parlin section of Sayreville and Catherine DeStefano of East Brunswick; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Monahan, 74, of Monroe, died Feb. 10 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, James J. Monahan Sr., died in 1992.
