Schoor DePalma, an engineering and consulting firm based in Manalapan, announced that it has hired Craig W. Veprek as department manager of regulatory compliance and permitting.

Veprek has more than 30 years of utility engineering experience and is a licensed professional engineer, professional planner, and a certified project management professional. Prior to working at Schoor DePalma, Veprek held the position of senior project manager at PSE&G. While at PSE&G, he managed environmental issues and remedial activities to assure compliance to federal and state regulations as well as cost-effective implementation. Veprek is a member of the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers, where he is a past chairman of construction code; a former member of the Point Pleasant Planning and Zoning Board; founding president of the Point Pleasant Foundation for Excellence in Education; and past state chairman of government relations and training for the New Jersey State Elks Association. He graduated with honors from the State University of New York Maritime College, Bronx, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and continued his master of engineering studies at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark.

Dan Bligh, of Manalapan, a tax associate in the Philadelphia office of KPMG LLP, was recently presented the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Community Service. KPMG is an audit and tax firm. As part of the honor, KPMG will donate $1,000 in Bligh’s name to Camp No Worries, a retreat in Burlington that provides a carefree and free week to children in various stages of cancer treatment and remission. Bligh has been an active volunteer at Camp No Worries for the past three years, even sacrificing personal vacation time to be a counselor at the camp. The camp is operated entirely through volunteer and fund-raising efforts.

Applewood Estates, a life-care retirement community of CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, has been awarded a five-year accreditation by the Commission on accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission.

To receive a five-year accreditation, a community must demonstrate excellence in financial performance and the care and services they provide. Applewood Estates also has the distinction of being the first life-care retirement community that is part of a progressive health care system, CentraState, and affiliated with the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network.

Paramount Homes’ Premier at Manalapan Ridge announced that the company is offering home buyers the option of purchasing the showcase homes to which they were originally attracted. Two of the models were recently sold, and a third is expected to be built during the upcoming spring season. The homes range from 4,600 square feet to more than 6,000 square feet, with four designs available. The development is more than half sold out, with pricing exceeding $1 million per home. Weichert, Realtors’ Marlboro office announced that three sales associates were recognized for their industry accomplishments in the month of January.

Phyllis Katz led the office in listings. A licensed real estate professional, Katz earned a degree in psychology from the College of Staten Island, N.Y.

Barbara Chasser led the office in sales. A member of Weichert’s Sales and Marketed clubs, Chasser qualified for the New Jersey Association of Realtors 2003 Circle of Excellence at the silver level. In addition, Chasser earned membership in Weichert’s Ambassador’s Club, recognizing her in the top 2 percent of the company’s 13,700 sales associates.

Diane Bindler led the office in revenue units and dollar volume. Bindler earned a degree in business and finance from Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

Anthony Emanuel, M.D., has been elected to a two-year term as chief of staff by the medical-dental staff of CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Dr. Emanuel, a pediatrician and chair of the pediatrics department from 1991 to 2004, joined the medical staff in 1983. He was the assistant chief of staff the past two years, and has been a member of CentraState Healthcare System’s Board of Trustees since 2000.

Dr. Emanuel is in private practice, Pediatric Health P.A., which operates five offices in the Freehold area, where he has lived for more than 20 years. He earned a medical degree from and completed his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is board certified in pediatrics.

Also elected to two-year terms are Steven K. Mishkin, M.D., assistant chief of staff, and James J. Matera, D.O., secretary-treasurer.

Dr. Mishkin, a board-certified ophthalmologist, was elevated from secretary-treasurer and has been a member of the board of trustees since 2003. He joined CentraState’s medical staff in 1988. Dr. Mishkin earned a medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, N.Y., and completed his residency at Montefiore Medical Center-Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is in private practice, Millennium Eye Care, in five locations in central New Jersey.

Dr. Matera, a nephrologist in private practice in South River and Freehold, Nephrology-Hypertension Associates, joined CentraState’s medical staff in 1994. Board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology, he earned a medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Matera is director of medical education and was chair of internal medicine from 2001 to 2004. He is now a member of CentraState’s Board of Trustees.

Dr. Deborah Breitstein, of Animal Health Care of Marlboro, recently attended the 22nd North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Fla. More than 4,000 veterinary doctors attended and the conference offered more than 40 hours of veterinary medical continuing education presentations. Topics included safer anesthetic protocols, pain management techniques for both acute and chronic pain, solutions for both sudden and long-term skin problems, and updates on integrative medical care options as presented by university and teaching hospital authorities. Animal Health Care of Marlboro is scheduled to begin its expansion project in the spring.

John Lombardo of Manalapan has been named president of AAMPRO Staffing Concepts Inc., a provider of permanent placement and temporary professional services. AAMPRO Staffing Concepts is a division of AAMPRO Group Inc., Bridgewater.

Lombardo is a veteran human resources (HR) executive who has extensive experience in HR administration and placement in the financial services, information technology, and sales and marketing industries. He joins AAMPRO after a career spanning more than 25 years as a senior HR executive that has included operating his own consulting and recruiting firm, directing the recruiting efforts of Fortune 100 financial services firms, and the management and operation of numerous start-up enterprises. As president of AAMPRO Staffing Concepts, Lombardo will be focused on developing the HR consulting, permanent placement and temporary professional services side of the business as well as the expansion of the payroll administration and employee leasing operations.
