Advice sought for ways to raise funds for area family

This is a letter to readers to please lend your support. A very dear friend’s husband has been suffering with brain cancer for two years now. His long and noble fight has included two craniotomy surgeries and many courses of chemotherapy, thereby depleting the family’s finances.

I feel the need to let you know how wonderful and strong this Edison family has been through this whole trying time. From the moment of finding out about Steve’s condition, this wonderful family has been standing strong in their faith for Steve’s complete recovery. Not once have they wavered from believing that one day he will overcome this awful disease. Debbie and Steve’s three children have also been pillars of strength for their parents. Steven, 14, Sarah, 12 and David, 7, have all played a large part in keeping their father’s hope that one day he will no longer be sick.

When most people would give up during such a difficult and trying time, this family has stood strong and unwavering to the battle of beating this illness and fighting the financial burden to keep their family together. I have been a witness to this noble fight and now feel I have to do whatever I can to help. The Lawrence family has been my lighthouse through the storm of my own trying times. They have set the example of what being a good, faithful, family is all about, in a world where you only seem to hear about the bad in people. I have been honored for being allowed to know and love this family.

Feeling the need to do what I can for the Lawrence family, I am starting a fund-raising organization called Friends of Steve Lawrence, but I do not know where to start. My hope is that the Friends of Steve Lawrence will provide financial support for existing medical bills, further treatments and living expenses. I’m in the process of starting a few small fund-raising events to start helping with some of the bills, but from here I do not know where to go. This is why I am asking you for your help.

Can you please give me some advice on other ways to raise money in a timely fashion? The Lawrence family is currently outstanding on many medical bills and the sum of the debt is growing. Any form of help or advice would be greatly appreciated .

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
