Alborada will honor cultural panel director

Anna M. Aschkenes, executive director of the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, will be honored at the first Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre Gala set for 5:30 p.m. on March 13 at the Spain Inn, 177 W. 177 St., Piscataway.

According to Eva Lucena, Alborada’s executive director, Aschkenes will be recognized for her continuous and dedicated support of the New Jersey dance company for the past nine years.

The gala will feature a performance by Alborada principal dancers, music by the Russ Moy Band, as well as Spanish food, sangria and door prizes.

Tickets cost $50 per person. A portion of the admission price is tax-deductible.

Alborada may be seen on NJN-TV’s “Images” series in “The History of Flamenco.” The company will perform on April 23 at the Dante Hall Theatre for the Arts, Atlantic City; on April 30 at the Wilkins Theater, Kean University, Union, with guest artists Neli Tirado and Edwin Aparicio of Spain; and on Sept. 18 at the Richard P. Marasco Performing Arts Center, Monroe, with Hungarian gypsy dancers and musicians.
