Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown, will host the fifth annual Construction Industry Career Day April 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will feature exhibits and demonstrations conducted by members of New Jersey’s construction trades. Representatives from trade unions and associations, and four-year colleges in New Jersey will also answer questions about the industry. 180, Turning Lives Around, Hazlet, and the Middlesex County Rape Care Hotline have received grants from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. The grants are in addition to funding the agencies will be receiving in upcoming months.

Ladacin Network, (formerly Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties Inc.), Wanamassa section of Ocean Township, was recently reaccredited by the board of directors of the Commission on Accreditation for Home Care. Accreditation involves an evaluation and review process to ensure that home care agencies in New Jersey maintain strict, defined standards. Agencies also undergo annual monitoring visits to ensure compliance with the standards.

Ladacin also received three-year accreditation from CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for its community assistive technology services, employment assistive technology services, child and youth services, community housing, community integration, respite services, community employment services, employment services coordination, employment skills training services and organizational employment services. The accreditation is the seventh consecutive three-year accreditation outcome CARF has awarded to Ladacin.

The Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Eatontown, was recently awarded a $5,000 Iams Home 4 the Holidays grant due to the SPCA’s role in the successful Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption program. The Monmouth County SPCA was chosen from more than 1,800 organizations to receive one of 20 grants awarded by the Helen Woodward Animal Center, San Diego, Calif., and the Iams Co. Winners were chosen based on criteria such as number of adoptions versus prior year, community involvement, and news coverage.

The Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce will hold a breakfast meeting April 19 from 8 to 9 a.m. at Sun National Bank, 267 Main St., Matawan. Royal Senior Care Medical Adult Day Service, 1041 Route 36, Atlantic Highlands, will host a presentation by Middletown lawyer John Callinan, “Planning for Children With Disabilities,” April 19 at 3:30 p.m. Callinan will discuss government programs that provide financial support to children with disabilities.
