Frank A. Campione, former Monmouth County Freeholder and deputy mayor of Freehold Township, has been selected by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Busi-ness Advisory Council (BAC) as the 2004 Businessman of the Year from New Jersey. The award was presented on March 15 in Washington, D.C., featuring special guests President George W. Bush, and radio and television personality Sean Hannity. Recipients are selected based on their business leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.

Campione is the founder of the International Education Consortium Inc., an educational organization promoting international summer study programs throughout Italy for American students and nonstudents. He has served as the former deputy mayor of Freehold Township, as the director of economic development for Monmouth County, and as a member of the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders.

Campione currently serves as the president of the New Jersey Coalition of Italian-Americans and was appointed by the governor to serve on the New Jersey Ethnic Advisory Council.

Campione teaches courses in Italian, Italian cinema and Italian cooking at Ocean County College, Toms River; Georgian Court University, Lakewood; Brook-dale Community College, Lincroft; and Williams-Sonoma stores. He has earned the title of “bon vivant” from the New Jersey Supreme Court and is completing his first Italian Cookbook, “Italian Cooking by the Legal Gourmet.”

The Howell Chamber of Commerce announced that the following events will be taking place:

• April 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m., networking event at Joseph Alexander Hair Salon, 5012 Route 9 south, Howell.

• April 27, Professional Assistance Day at Our House Restaurant in Howell from noon to 2 p.m.; $25 per person.

• May 5, 6:35 p.m., Howell Night at First Energy Park, Home of the Lakewood BlueClaws, 2 Stadium Way, Lakewood.

• May 19, 7:45 a.m., breakfast at Scooters; state Sen. Robert Singer will be the speaker.

• June 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Cowboy Adventure at Curry Farms, 177 Georgia Tavern Road — a fund-raiser for the Howell First Aid Squad.

Mon-Oc Federal Credit Union is offering students of Monmouth and Ocean counties a different way to save money. For every “A” a child earns, Mon-Oc will deposit $1 in a student’s Mon-Oc savings account.

The program is called “Dollars for A’s,” and it’s available to Monmouth and Ocean County school students up to grade 12. Parents can bring their child’s most current official report card into any Mon-Oc branch until July 1. Details: (800) MONOC-95.
