Despite individual struggles, SBHS starts strong

Despite some inconsistencies with its top golfers, the South Brunswick High golf team is off to a 2-1 start and had a strong showing at the Hunterdon Central Red Devil Tournament on Monday.
Kerri Tracy carded a 90 on Monday to finish in sixth place out of 50 golfers, while the Vikings took third place overall.
"It was a good outing for us," coach Jaymee Boehmer said. "Those greens were so fast (at Copper Hill Country Club in Ringoes), it was tough to putt."
Priyanka Chanchani added a 102, followed by Courtney Snyder (116) and Connie Chen (119).
While those four will be carrying the load this year, it has taken them some time to get untracked.
"They’ve actually been pretty inconsistent," Boehmer said. "We’ve had a 44 and a 46, otherwise they’ve been at 50. They’ve been having some trouble with their putting."
So, what better way to improve the putts, than to take a break from them.
"On Sunday, they didn’t play, they just went to the driving range," Boehmer said. "And they putted pretty well on Monday."
In their dual matches so far, the Vikings have beaten Hunterdon Central by four and Montgomery by 20, while losing to Peddie by 20 on Saturday.
