Sadon Chiropractic and Rehabili-tation Center will sponsor Kids Day America/International locally at their Morganville office on May 14 from noon to 3 p.m. The event is dedicated to children’s health, safety and environmental awareness. Sadon Chiropractic will provide information on crime prevention, child safety and environmental awareness, and will give a child safety ID card to each child who attends. In addition, the Robertsville Fire Department will bring its fire truck and members will teach fire safety.

Drs. Abraham Sadon and Jason Vengelis will provide free spinal examinations and scoliosis screenings and distribute information on disease prevention and specific health issues that affect children. There will also be free balloons and snacks, and giveaways and prize drawings every half-hour. The office also will accept donations for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Marlboro DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. The Goddard School is under construction at 350 Pond Road in Freehold Township. The new state-of-the-art, 8,040-square-foot building has been designed to accommodate approximately 130 children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. The new school is projected to open in the fall and will offer flexible schedules for children Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The architect for the new Freehold location is Dietz and Associates of Livingston and the developer is Stavola Realty Company of Tinton Falls.

The on-site owner will attend training and then be available to offer tours of the new school about one month before the grand opening. Over the next several months, an education director and a staff of qualified teachers will be hired.

According to a press release, the Goddard School offers a program that focuses on building a strong and balanced foundation of emotional, social, cognitive, and physical skills of each child.

Stephen DePalma, CEO and chairman of the Manalapan-based engineering and consulting firm Schoor DePalma Inc., and an alumnus of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), was recently elected to serve as co-vice chair of the NJIT Board of Trustees. DePalma previously served on the NJIT Board of Overseers. DePalma’s company has grown from a localized smaller firm grossing $17 million in 1993 to its current standing as a 12-office, multi-state firm grossing $76 million in 2002. In 2002, the Engineering News Record ranked Schoor DePalma 77th in the top 100 pure design firms.

Two Monmouth County teachers were honored by The Business Coalition for Educational Excellence at the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce recently. The teachers were presented with the Crystal Apple award for earning national board certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

Julie Glazer, a teacher at Laura Donovan School, Freehold Township, and Philip Silva, a teacher at Asher Holmes School in Marlboro, were among 32 teachers who received the honor, doubling the previous year’s total of 16.

State Department of Education Com-missioner William Librera, NBPTS President Joseph A. Aguerrebere, and New Jersey business leaders attended the recognition ceremony, held in Cranbury.

National board certification is the highest credential in the teaching profession. The certification is achieved through a rigorous performance-based assessment that takes between one and three years to complete and measures what accomplished teachers and school counselors should know and be able to do.

First Hallmark Mortgage Corp., Manalapan, announced that it marks its fifth anniversary this year. The company was founded in 2000 by Brian Riccioni and Bruno Viscariello, and has grown from an operation with five employees to a corporation with 60 employees in three sales offices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Viscariello, the company’s president, runs the day-to-day operations, and oversees sales and business development. According to the press release, First Hallmark is a mortgage lending institution that provides financial services to the public, specializing in sub-prime residential mortgages for people with credit problems.

Rick’s Saddle Shop announced the grand opening of its new location in Cream Ridge, Upper Freehold Township, at 282 Route 539. The new 27,000-square-foot facility will replace the old 5,000-square-foot store. The new super-store will focus on the English and Western equestrian enthusiast. Larry S. Arbeitman, D.C., has announced the opening of his practice, Upper Cervical Chiropractic of Mon-mouth LLC, at 25 Kilmer Drive, Building III, Morganville. In addition to offering traditional chiropractic care, the practice specializes in upper cervical chiropractic technique and wellness.

CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has opened a new cardiac catheterization laboratory on the second floor of the Medical Arts Building adjacent to the hospital. Cardiac catheterization is a diagnostic procedure used to identify or rule out various heart conditions.

CentraState already offers comprehensive non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing services including echocardiography, exercise stress testing, nuclear and pharmacological stress testing, tilt testing, EKG, signal-average ECG, pacemaker, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

Physicians may refer patients to the cardiac catheterization lab by contacting one of the board-certified cardiologists on staff at CentraState.

My Gym, a fitness center designed for children, announced that it is opening another 30 gyms in the next 12 months. My Gym now has 140 gyms in 30 states, including one in Manalapan. CentraState Medical Center, Free-hold Township, announced that Novo Nordisk Inc. has made a $100,000 grant to CentraState’s Diabetes Care Program, ushering in the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center at CentraState.

The funds will help provide the center with educational resources and materials to expand community and patient education, and equipment or facility needs to continue to enhance the diabetes program at CentraState.

This is the first time in CentraState’s history that a service has been named in honor of a corporate donor. Novo Nordisk has a broad portfolio of diabetes products and insulin delivery systems and also is a leader in diabetes education and community awareness programs.
