Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Woodbridge Metro, Edison, Metuchen Area, Perth Amboy, Piscataway Area and Somerset County Business Partnership will hold its “3rd Thursday Leadership Luncheon” May 19 at 11:45 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency, New Brunswick. Guest speaker will be Joann LaPerla-Morales, new president of Middlesex County College. Cost is $50 for nonmembers and $40 for members. The Chamber’s human resource council will presents a free breakfast meeting to members May 25 at 8:30 a.m. at the MCRCC at 1 Distribution Way, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Guest speaker will be Hanna Praport. She will discuss “How to Get State Training Grants.” Cost is $25 for nonmembers, and free for members.

Thomas Hart, Monmouth Junction, was recently elected chairman of the board of directors for the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Hamilton. Hart is president and principal of Kilpatrick & Hart, Ltd. Inc., a national commercial financing consultant firm. He has been a BBB board member since 2001, and served as finance committee chair from 2002-05. He received his degree at Bloomfield College, and master’s degree in finance at Indiana University.

Additionally, the BBB elected officers for its 2005-06 fiscal year: Gary Porto of Dr. Leonard’s Healthcare Corp., Edison, vice chair; Scott Puro of Backes & Hill, Trenton, vice chair; David Aust of Venanzi Accounting Associations, Hamilton, vice chair; Deby Findley of UPS Capital, Edison, secretary; and Jack Kelly of Atlantic Coast Moving & Storage, Egg Harbor City, treasurer.

Assemblyman Bill Baroni (R-14) recently received the Best Support of Chinese-American Community Award from the New Jersey Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce (NJCACC). According to John Yeung, NJCACC chairman, the award shows appreciation and thanks to Assemblyman Baroni for his support and dedication to the Chinese-American community. The NJCACC is a nonprofit with approximately 150 member companies.
