Bruce Johnson, program and news director at WCTC, New Brunswick, was recently selected to receive the Distinguished American Award from the Central Jersey Chapter of the National Football Foundation. Johnson was recognized at the 37th annual awards dinner in mid-April. He has had a long-standing affiliation with the organization. According to Dan Finn, vice president and regional general manager at Greater Media New Jersey, Johnson is a consummate professional and a true asset to the organization. WCTC is owned and operated by Greater Media New Jersey, a subsidiary of Greater Media Inc., parent company of 19 AM and FM radio stations in the Boston, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets. It also owns a printing plant and a group of weekly newspapers in central New Jersey as well as several telecommunications towers located throughout the United States.
The South Brunswick Family YMCA has announces James Richardson has joined its staff as health and wellness director. Richardson is a certified massage therapist as well as a registered yoga teacher. He will restructure the Y’s fitness department to include more health and wellness programs, including senior citizen, prenatal/postnatal and whole foods nutrition programs. Richardson and his family reside in South Brunswick.
The New School for Music Study, Kingston section of South Brunswick, has announced its co-founder, Louise Goss, was recently awarded the Music Teachers’ National Association Achievement Award. The award honors members that have devoted extensive time and energy to better the association and further the music teaching profession. Goss is a teacher, lecturer, clinician, author and editor, and currently serves as chair of the board of trustees at the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy.
The New Jersey State Bar Foundation in conjunction with the animal law committee of the State Bar Association will present the seminar “A Discussion of the Animal Welfare Task Force Recommendations” June 8 from 7-9 p.m. The task force examines current laws concerning animal welfare such as population control policies.
A seminar on wills and estate planning will be June 9 from 7-9 p.m. Topics of discussion include wills and trusts, power of attorney and living wills.
