The Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce business after hours committee will hold a networking event June 23 at 5:30 p.m. at LA Fitness, 536 Milltown Road, North Brunswick. The event is co-sponsored by Corporate Resource Alliance Inc. and Central Jersey Business-to-Business. It will feature refreshments and door prizes. Attendees may come in workout clothes to take advantage of the facility. Cost is $30 for nonmember walk-ins, $20 for member walk-ins and $15 for members. Marc Rubenstein, M.P.T. of Jersey Physical Therapy, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, will give a presentation on home safety at the “Health and Wellness Forum” June 9 from 10:30 a.m.-noon at Charleston Place, 3424 Route 27, Kendall Park. Rubenstein will discuss risks for falls in the home, how balance can affect fall risks, exercises for balance, and recommendations to organize the home to prevent falls. All are welcome. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) recently named Michael Wiley, of Hightstown, as innovation zone project officer to manage the three technology neighborhoods that have been created in Camden, New and North Brunswick, and Newark. Wiley will oversee the program that has been designed to spur collaboration among the state’s research universities, medical research facilities and technology businesses to encourage rapid transfer of discoveries from the laboratory to the marketplace.

Thomas Hart, Monmouth Junction, was recently elected chairman of the board of directors for the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Hamilton. Hart is president and principal of Kilpatrick & Hart, Ltd. Inc., a national commercial financing consultant firm. He has been a BBB board member since 2001, and served as finance committee chair from 2002-05. He received his degree at Bloomfield College, and master’s degree in finance at Indiana University.

Additionally, the BBB elected officers for its 2005-06 fiscal year: Gary Porto of Dr. Leonard’s Healthcare Corp., Edison, vice chair; Scott Puro of Backes & Hill, Trenton, vice chair; David Aust of Venanzi Accounting Associations, Hamilton, vice chair; Deby Findley of UPS Capital, Edison, secretary; and Jack Kelly of Atlantic Coast Moving & Storage, Egg Harbor City, treasurer.

Assemblyman Bill Baroni (R-14) recently received the Best Support of Chinese-American Community Award from the New Jersey Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce (NJCACC). According to John Yeung, NJCACC chairman, the award shows appreciation and thanks to Assemblyman Baroni for his support and dedication to the Chinese-American community. The NJCACC is a nonprofit with approximately 150 member companies.
