WEST WINDSOR Alice K. Palumbo died Sunday at University Medical Center at Princeton. She was 59.
Born in Kessab, Syria, she was a Princeton-area resident for 35 years.
She owned a dress design firm in the Princeton area.
She was a parishioner at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Princeton and the Armenian Catholic Church in Philadelphia.
She was an active volunteer in Princeton area nursing homes.
Attending a prestigious design school in Bologna, Italy, she graduated at the top of her class.
Daughter of the late Farida and Minas Aklian, she is survived by daughter Tania Palumbo of Jackson; sons and daughter-in-law John Palumbo of Lancaster, Pa. and Michael and Paulina Palumbo of Philadelphia; sisters Araxi Chiavoni of Jackson and Berge Campbell of Cream Ridge; brother Vartan Aklian of East Windsor; and one grandchild.
The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Ave., Princeton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton, with the Rev. David Bedrossian officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

PINEHURST, N.C. David J. Gardam Jr. died Friday at home. He was 76.
Born in East Orange, he grew up in Livingston and was a former Princeton resident.
He spent nearly his entire career with RCA Corp. He worked as a training manager in Harrison, a personnel manager in Marion, Ind., and as an administrator in labor relations on the RCA corporate staff. In 1966, he became director of personnel for the National Broadcasting Co. and was named vice president for personnel in 1968. He was later promoted to vice president of industrial relations.
In 1977, he was elected to the NBC board of directors. He left NBC to become vice president of RCA Electronics.
He moved to Pinehurst in 1990 and was involved in a number of committees at the Country Club of North Carolina, where he lived. He served as chairman of the Circle of Friends and as a member of the board of Moore Regional Hospital Foundation.
Mr. Gardam served with the Marine Corps as part of the naval occupation of Europe.
A graduate of Bryant College in Providence, R.I., he did graduate work at Rutgers University and served for a time as a member of the adjunct faculty of the Institute of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers. In 1976, he received an honorary doctorate in business administration from Bryant.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn, of Pinehurst; daughters and sons-in-law Marilyn and Jeffrey Gotlinger, Donna and Bruce Perkins and Nancy and Fabio Picinic; and eight grandchildren.
A reception is scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Gardam home in Country Club of North Carolina. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. June 11 at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, Millburn.

William H. Baker
Worked at hospital association
BOLIVIA, N.C. William Herbert Baker died Thursday at home. He was 72.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he was retired from the New Jersey Hospital Association, West Windsor Township.
Mr. Baker was an Army veteran.
He was an avid golfer and woodworker, and enjoyed traveling, boating photography and geography.
A 1954 Purdue University graduate, he remained very active in the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Son of the late Guy Andrew and Ella Mae Beeler Baker, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Varieur of Wilmington, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Jaimi Baker of Trinity, N.C.; sister Jane Mills of Ohio; and grandchildren Hannah Baker and Zachary Varieur.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory, Supply, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 prior to the service.
