SEA BRIGHT — Running uncontested, all three candidates for two open council seats won the nominations of their respective parties during the June 7 primary.
Council President Maria D. Fernandes and Councilman Thomas E. Scriven, both incumbents, secured the Democratic nominations for their council seats with 40 votes and 34 votes, respectively.
Republican Peggy R. Bills, the sole candidate running for that party’s nomination, garnered 79 votes.
No write-in votes were recorded, according to the Borough Clerk’s office.
In Oceanport, voters will see a new candidate in November for the general election as the result of a write-in candidate at last week’s primary election.
On June 7, Democrat John Ibex, Brunt Mill Circle, received 18 votes as the borough’s only write-in, qualifying him to run for council.
Incumbents Ellyn Kahle and Richard Gallo, both Republicans, received 211 and 219 votes, respectively, and newcomer Alfred Guzzi, a Democrat, received 94 votes.
The four candidates are vying for two open three-year terms.
