On Campus

Lauren Anne Bleimann of Jackson graduated May 18 from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She was named to the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester.

Kristen Jones of Howell, a political science major at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., is among the Syracuse students whose undergraduate mock trial team placed 10th at the National Mock Trial Tournament recently hosted by Stetson University School of Law in St. Petersburg, Fla. Teams are judged based on preparation, knowledge of the case and procedural rules, and presence and poise in the courtroom. Jones is a sophomore in the Syracuse University College of Arts and Sciences.

Kelli Nicole Zicha of Jackson graduated May 20 from Georgian Court University, Lakewood. She earned a bachelor of arts degree with magna cum laude distinction honors in elementary education and psychology. Zicha is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the national education honor society, and Psi Chi, the national psychology honor society. She was also awarded dean scholar by the university, and named a 2004-05 all-American collegiate scholar by the U.S. Achievement Academy.

Melissa Karmondy, daughter of Cheryl and Ken Karmondy of Jackson, graduated cum laude May 22 from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., with a bachelor of arts degree in English along with her secondary teaching certification. A lifetime member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, she is also an alumni of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Jocelyn V. Fary of Howell has received a master of social work degree from Boston University, Boston, Mass. She was also awarded the Saul and David Bernstein Prize for outstanding group work in her field. Fary is a 1997 graduate of Howell High School and a 2001 graduate of Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. She recently accepted a position as media events coordinator for Children’s Miracle Network programs at Children’s Hospital Boston.

Erin O’Grady of Howell has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass., where she is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences She is a sophomore majoring in communications.

Melissa Borotto of Jackson, a senior journalism major at Rider University, Lawrenceville, received the McRoberts Award at the school’s annual Awards Day banquet. The award is given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to serving others either on or off campus through community service and/or outreach programs.

Casey Bartolf of Jackson was one of 28 athletes from Rowan University, Glassboro, to receive honorable mention in being named to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Aca-demic Teams. A softball player, Bartolf is majoring in health and exercise science. To be eligible for the conference’s academic squad, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior who is a starter or significant contributor in a conference-sponsored sport. He or she must also possess a minimum grade-point average of 3.2 and have appeared in at least half the team’s contests.
