Barbara H. Ragg Twomey

Mrs. Twomey, 96, of Red Bank, died July 3 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Winslow Junction she resided in Linden prior to moving to Red Bank in 1990. She was a pediatric nurse at Perth Amboy General Hospital, from 1961 until retirement at age 70. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Jeremiah Twomey in 1977; two brothers, Herman and Eugene; and three sisters, Marie, Anna and Claire. She is survived by a son, Joseph Twomey of Red Bank; two daughters, Barbara Psichos of the Lincroft section of Middletown, and Mary McCormick of El Cerrito, Calif.; a sister, Alice Carroll of Clark; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be July 7 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A funeral service will be July 8 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge. Warren Mendes

Mr. Mendes, 77, of Long Branch, died June 24 in Eatontown. He resided in Asbury Park and Union City, prior to moving to Long Branch 10 years ago. He was an iron worker at Local 580, New York City, retiring 35 years ago. He was a semi-professional softball player during his youth. He enjoyed walking, and spending time at the beach. He was predeceased by two brother, Edward and George Mendes. He is survived by a niece, Barbara Biringer; a nephew, James Biringer; and two cousins. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch. Arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown.

Rose Kurpiel Guzzi

Mrs. Guzzi, 79, of Long Branch, died June 30 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. Born in Mahoney City, Pa., she resided in Elizabeth prior to moving to Long Branch in 1946. She was a homemaker, and assisted at her daughter’s florist shop in the West End section of Long Branch. She was a parishioner at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, West End. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred “Fritz” Guzzi in 2003. She is survived by a son, Alfred “Fred” Guzzi Jr. of Long Branch; two daughters, Nancy Montgomery of West Long Branch, and Maryanne Squillari of Monmouth Beach; a brother, Thomas Kurpiel of Bayville; a sister, Jean Kenesky of Frackville, Pa.; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Church. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
