Tim Murphy, of Freehold Township, has received accreditation from the Institute for Independent Business (IIB), with U.S. headquarters in Parsippany. Murphy will be expanding the institute’s presence in Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties.

For the last 20 years, as a business owner, he has worked as a business adviser and consultant to the financial services industry. Prior to that, he held management positions at IBM, Citibank and other companies.

As an executive associate, Murphy will have access to top-level executives around the world to assist clients with any business issue or challenge.

Established in 1984 in the United Kingdom, the institute is an international, not-for-profit business support organization. Its purpose is to bring timely and practical advice to independent business owners. The IIB provides mentoring and business advice, as well as access to a wide range of expertise and services, including angel and venture funding, banking/financing, human resources, sales and marketing, organization and management, quality and ISO 9000, business valuations, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning and exit strategies.

Monica Cuadros, of Edison, has joined OceanFirst Bank as assistant vice president and commercial lending officer. She will be responsible for the maintenance and aggressive development of the bank’s business development and commercial-lending customer base in Monmouth County. A graduate of Kean University, Union, Cuadros was previously employed by CIT as an account manager in small-business lending. She is an active member of the Middlesex County and Eastern Monmouth County chambers of commerce.

South Brunswick businesswoman Lynda Woods Cleary recently graduated from the seventh graduating class at The Christine Todd Whitman Excellence in Public Service Series, Trenton. The nine-month series is designed for governmental and political positions at the local, state and federal levels. Woods Cleary joined 20 other Whitman Series Scholars in the program of panel presentations, workshops, readings and homework assignments. An investment adviser, business owner, and certified senior adviser, Woods Cleary holds a master’s of business administration degree in finance, and is an alumna of Dartmouth (N.H.) College, Tougaloo (Miss.) College, and New York Institute of Technology. Her volunteer activities include the United Negro College Fund and American Cancer Society. She and her husband Richard reside in Princeton Walk.

Linda Martin, North Brunswick, was recently appointed director of nursing education at Mercer County Community College, West Windsor. Prior to joining the college, she was director of a bachelor’s degree program in nursing at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Brunswick. Prior to that, she coordinated the first-year nursing education program at St. Francis Medical Center School of Nursing, Trenton, for 13 years. She was also a registered nurse at Roosevelt Hospital, Edison and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Martin holds a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Trenton State College, master’s of science degree in nursing from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She is pursuing a doctor of education degree in higher education leadership at Nova Southeastern University.
