METUCHEN — The school district’s summer punch list is almost 100 percent complete and Schools Superintendent Theresa Sinatra wants to keep it that way.

Sinatra outlined the district’s two-year goals for school facilities at a recent Board of Education meeting.

“As I said last week, I want my floors to sparkle, and I have goals to keep them that way,” Sinatra said.

Sinatra wants to provide resources and leadership for the district’s physical plant that will ensure the district’s instructional effectiveness.

Her first goal is to ensure oversight of the referendum construction project.

Sinatra provided seven indicators to achieve that goal, which included establishing a section to provide information about the district’s ongoing referendum construction projects on the district Web site.

The second goal is to ensure continuation of the district’s commitment to proactive maintenance and cleanliness in its existing facilities, she said.

Sinatra provided five indicators to achieve that goal, which include encouraging students to express maintenance and cleanliness concerns to the administration and student government.

“I hope these goals will be ongoing for a long time,” she said.
