‘Trio’: New work by Wendy Hollander

Trio Red 3 Trio Red 3 Good things come in threes in a show of new work by Red Bank artist Wendy Born Hollander.

Titled “Trio,” the show is Hollander’s first at the Ocean County Artists Guild in Island Heights, where it will run from Oct. 2 through Nov. 1. The show will open Sunday, Oct. 2, 1-4 p.m.

Hollander’s new work for “Trio” is about approaching color and design intuitively.

Experimentation with mixed media, thick and tactile applications of paint, mosaic stained glass tiles and collaged fabrics all combine to blur the line between painting and sculpture.

Trio Red 1 Trio Red 1 The work is hung in groups of three: two wall pieces and one free hanging that all explore a common theme.

The viewer is invited to linger over rich, saturated colors and reflective, patterned surfaces.

Hollander has worked as an illustrator and fine artist for the past 17 years. She is a member of the Art Alliance of Monmouth County and The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

Her work can be viewed at www.theispot.com/artist/whollander.

The Ocean County Artists Guild is located at Ocean and Chestnut avenues. Hours are 1-4 p.m. daily, except Monday.
