Athletic Hall of Fame 2006 inductees announced

A banquet honoring the inductees will be held on March 25 at Angeloni’s Cedar Gardens on Route 33 in Hamilton

   The Hopewell Valley CHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has tabulated the ballots of the Selection Committee and has announced the 2006 Class of Inductees.
   After accepting nominations from the community, the nominating committee formed a ballot with names of outstanding Hopewell Valley athletes, coaches, teams and special contributors. This ballot and biographies of all the candidates was then sent out to over 45 members of the selection committee, comprised of community members, coaches, teachers and former students who then voted on athletes deserving recognition in the Hall of Fame.
   Members of the 2006 Hopewell Valley Athletic Hall of Fame are as follows:
   — Veteran’s Pre-1973, Merritt McAlinden, 1941, and John Gilbert, 1968.
   — Pioneer’s Pre-1973, Beverly Kimble, 1960.
   — Modern Era 1973+, Charlie Morreale, 1975; J.D. Henderson, 1977; Sara Clark (Wagner), 1985; Annette Bacon (Dearolf), 1987.
   — Coach, Dean Dekok.
   — Team, 1985 Girls Field Hockey Team.
   — Special Contributor, Steve Timko.
   A banquet honoring the inductees will be held on March 25 at Angeloni’s Cedar Gardens on Route 33 in Hamilton. Previous banquets have had over 300 attendee’s and brought together community members, athletes, coaches, ex-teammates and friends from far and wide.
   The Hall of Fame Committee is searching for members of the 1985 Girls Field Hockey Team.
