FLORENCE
Police charged a Pennsylvania man with a string of drug-related offenses after a routine traffic stop last week.
According to police, officers stopped 25-year-old William Smith of Levittown, Pa. for driving 61 mph in a 50-mph zone along Florence-Columbus Road just before midnight Dec. 9. Police said officers soon spotted what they thought to be a marijuana pipe in Mr. Smith’s car. According to police, Mr. Smith admitted at this point that he was carrying a small amount of marijuana in a plastic bag in his pocket.
Police charged Mr. Smith with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. He was released on his own recognizance, pending a court date.
