Elizabeth Sterling was appointed to a three-year term as Pennington Borough clerk during Tuesday night’s brief end-of-the-year Borough Council meeting.
   Her appointment took effect Tuesday.
Ms. Sterling had been acting borough clerk about a year, since the council voted unanimously not to reappoint her predecessor, Karen Waldron.
Ms. Sterling will be paid $31,200 per year – the same amount she had been getting as acting clerk.
Ms. Sterling recently passed the state exam for municipal clerks, Mayor Jim Loper said Tuesday.
Also during Tuesday night’s council meeting, officials voted 5-0, with Anthony Persichilli absent, in favor of a resolution appointing Eric Wilkerson to complete an unexpired term as the borough’s representative to the Stony Brook Regional Sewerage Authority (SBRSA).
That term ends Dec. 31, 2008. Mr. Wilkerson’s predecessor, Steve Picco, resigned due to conflicts with his work schedule.
