Montgomery Center for the Arts seeks entries for show

MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Center for the Arts is seeking entries for its annual Open Juried Exhibition, which will be on display Feb. 10 to March 12.
Entries will be juried and awarded prizes by Susan Taylor, the director of the Princeton University Art Museum.
Last year, the arts center received about 200 pieces from more than 95 artists, including submissions from the Garden State Watercolor Society, a nonprofit organization that encourages and supports "fine watercolor painting in the state of New Jersey," according to the society’s Web site.
Artists seeking to submit entries must hand-deliver one or two pieces of art to the center on Feb. 7, between 4 and 7 p.m. The pieces, original two- or three-dimensional works in all media, must have been created within the past three years and not previously shown at MCA.
All media art by artists older than 18 can be entered, according to the center’s Web site. The fees for submitting are $20 for members of the Montgomery Center for the Arts and $30 for non-members. Three cash awards, along with merchandise awards and honorable mentions, will be given to the winning artists.
"Anyone can enter," curatorial assistant Holly Freundlich said. "The show will provide good exposure to artists who have never had any — especially since there will be some professional artists shown, as well."
Two-dimensional images must be framed, with hanging wires, not clip frames. Works on paper over 24 inches by 30 inches must be framed with Plexiglas. No piece will be accepted if it weighs more than 40 pounds or is too large for a single individual to move or hang.
Works not chosen for exhibit may be picked up Feb. 9.
The exhibition’s opening reception, the occasion when artists will be at the center to talk about their work over drinks and hors d’oeuvres, will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 12. That day, artists will receive their awards.
For specific requirements, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Juried Show, Montgomery Center for the Arts, 124 Montgomery Road, Skillman, NJ 08558.
