Dr. Eric Silverberg has announced the relocation of Silverberg Family Chiropractic, formerly in Manalapan, to 38 Thoreau Drive in the Poet’s Square Shopping Center on Kozloski Road in Freehold Township (next to the offices of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission).

Dr. Silverberg specializes in the treatment of many physical conditions including headaches, back and neck pain, herniated discs, sports injuries and more. He has been in practice for seven years and graduated from Rutgers University and New York Chiropractic College, Seneca Falls, N.Y.

Dr. Silverberg is available six days per week and provides immediate emergency service. He treats patients of all ages, from infant to adult, and accepts most health insurance plans. He also provides care for people who have been in auto accidents and who have workers compensation cases.

The doctor welcomes certified massage therapist Tetyana Lips to his office. Lips has been working with doctors and nursing homes in North Jersey and Forked River since 2002, providing professional therapeutic massages to patients of all ages. She is experienced in many forms of massage, including Swedish, hot stone, reflexology (foot massage), pre-and post-natal massage, and more.

95.9 WRAT-FM, Lake Como, recently sent its mascot Rocky to the pediatric wards of area hospitals dressed as “Santa Rat” to deliver stuffed animals, puzzles and games to the young patients. Puzzles and games were contributed by Barnes & Noble. WRAT promotions director Doug Sjonvall thanked Ellen Mizer for helping out on the project by sending the station a box of puzzles and games each day. WRAT is owned and operated by Greater Media New Jersey, a subsidiary of Greater Media Inc., parent company of 19 AM and FM radio stations in the Boston, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets. It also owns a modern printing plant and a group of weekly newspapers in central New Jersey as well as several telecommunications towers throughout the United States.

Linda Pressler, CPA, will present “Tax Tips for Individuals — What’s New for 2005 and Avoiding Common Tax Return Filing Errors,” on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Matawan Public Library, 165 Main St. Pressler has more than 15 years of accounting experience and is treasurer of the Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce. Wegmans has been named to Fortune magazine’s 2006 list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” this year ranking No. 2. This marks the ninth consecutive year that Wegmans has appeared on the annual list and its fourth year ranked among the top 10. While ranked No. 2 overall, Wegmans was the top company on the list of large employers (those with 10,000 employees or more) and was named one of the 10 best companies for encouraging employees to balance work and personal life. Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is a 69-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey, including a store in Manalapan on Route 9.

The Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly general meeting at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 26 at the chamber office, 17 Broad St., Freehold. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164 recently honored 42 members, including four Monmouth County residents, for a combined total of 2,280 years of service to the electrical industry throughout Hudson, Bergen and Essex counties.

Local 164, which is headquartered in Paramus, has more than 3,900 members.

The 60-year honorees were Robert Brant Sr. of Middletown and Robert Clarfield of Manalapan. The 50-year honorees were Otto Kazenmayer of Manasquan and Richard Meyler Sr. of Neptune.

The New Jersey Restaurant Association (NJRA) has received a training grant of $317,000 from the New Jersey Department of Labor to educate industry personnel and consumers about the importance of food safety.

In accordance with the grant, NJRA has scheduled free “ServSafe Food” safety training certification classes available throughout the state to current as well as new NJRA members. NJRA, headquartered in Trenton, represents 22,000 businesses employing 220,000 people in the state.

Topics and situations addressed in the seminar include food allergies and triggers, proper cooking temperature and food handling techniques, hand washing and cross contamination, and receiving procedures and holding time.

NJRA’s “ServSafe” classes run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include instruction, materials, exam, and certification recognized by county health departments. Additional free classes will be scheduled in all counties across the state over the next year; registration is required.
