Police revived a 55-year-old Lakewood man who collapsed while dancing at the Four Seasons Clubhouse off Georges Road at 9:25 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Police said that two officers used a defibrillator to revive Luis Negron, who suddenly collapsed while dancing with his wife. Two people at the party, one of them a doctor, performed CPR on Mr. Negron while others called 911, according to police.
Patrol Officers Dennis Yuhasz and Michael Pellino responded to the call and arrived within minutes, police said. The officers found Mr. Negron on the floor without a pulse, police said.
Officer Yuhasz continued administering CPR while Officer Pellino connected the defibrillator, which they carry in their patrol car, police said. After two shocks from the defibrillator, Mr. Negron began to breathe and regained consciousness, police said.
Mr. Negron was taken by the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad and paramedics to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit until Tuesday, when his condition was upgraded to fair.
"(The bystanders’) quick actions of administering CPR increased our success rate," Officer Pellino said in a press release. "That helped us revive him."
