Freehold Twp. hosting Shore’s all-star games

The basketball stars will be out and shining brightly tomorrow night.That’s when Freehold Township High School hosts the annual Shore Basketball Coaches All-Star games starting at 6 p.m.

The best graduating seniors in the Shore Conference will have the chance to lace them up one last time in high school tomorrow night. For some, like Howell’s Brianne Lavin, Ali Goldsmith and Colleen Thomas, it will be the opportunity to be teammates one last time. While for others, like crosstown rivals Matt Hardison and Damian Cskai, of Freehold Township, and John Weldon and Craig Schultz, of Freehold Borough, it’s a chance to be teammates after battling against each other throughout their scholastic careers.

For the all-star games, the conference is divided by divisions, north and south. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m. followed at 8 p.m. by the boys. The college clock will be used with teams playing two 20-minute halves.

Admission is $6 for adults, and $5 for students and seniors.

Playing for the girls North stars are: Christine Martorelli, Holmdel; Caitlin Hyduke, Rumson-Fair Haven; Brie Moran, Red Bank Regional; Anat Sibony, Marlboro; Michele Whalen, Middletown South; Zaykeyah Pitts, Matawan; Olivia Triano, Keyport; Kristen Dalton, Monmouth Regional; Kristine Perez, St. John Vianney; Emily Fixter, Freehold Township; Jessica Nimbley, St. John Vianney; Cat Cristino, Colts Neck; and Lavin, Goldsmith and Thomas, Howell.

Marlboro’s Brian Nash, Red Bank Regional’s John Rivera and Rumson’s George Sourlis will coach the North stars.

They will be up against the South all-stars of Jackie Berry, Pinelands; Katie Brunck, Pt. Pleasant Beach; Alexandra Detata, Brick; Lisa James, Manchester; Jenna Lombardo, Southern; Kim Herringer, Monsignor Donovan; Chrissy Zrowka, St. Rose; Meagan Lambros, Central; Jazmine Fair, Toms River East; Michelle Harder, Brick; Lisa Stanek, Monsignor Donovan; Tara Hansen, Toms River South; Danielle Mickiewicz, Jackson; Mary Kate Duggan, Manasqaun; and Nicole Hawkins, Manasquan.

The coaches are Kristy Gerdes, Manasquan; Joe Roman, St. Rose; and Vincent Tralka, Pinelands.

Christian Brothers Academy’s duo of Tim Andree and Craig Woehnker, who helped the Colts win the Shore Conference Tournament and NJSIAA Non-Public A South titles, head up the boys North all-star team. Rounding out the team are Chris Misiazek, Middletown North; Phil Conover, Rumson-Fair Haven; Will Martell, Rumson-Fair Haven; Matt Mullery, St. John Vianney; Andrew Stein, Holmdel; Dave Lonay, Raritan; Billy Walsh, Mater Dei; Rob Oftedal, Keansburg; Tyler Reinhard, Henry Hudson; Weldon and Schultz, Freehold Borough; and Csakai and Hardison, Freehold Township.

Freehold Borough’s Brian Donahue and SJV’s David Ermery are the coaches.

Randall Stallworth and James Shinn, who led Monsignor Donovan to its first Shore Conference Tournament final, head up the South squad. Joining them are Jay Frank, Brick Memorial; James Cherrick, Brick Memorial; Trevor Tonkovich, Pt. Pleasant Boro; Brian Melanson, Central; Rondell Proctor, Lakewood; Kyle Gerlufsen, Pt. Pleasant Beach; Chris Lehman, Shore; Kimani Brown, Toms River North; Jason Westrol, Manasquan; Derrick Fetzer, Manasquan; John Reed, Wall; Marquis Drayton, Asbury Park; and Sal Salvati, Colts Neck.

Monsignor Donovan’s Mike Kearney and Brick Memorial’s Ron Gerlufsen will coach the South all-stars.
