Warren W. Gaal

Mr. Gaal, 70, of North Brunswick, died March 27 at home. Born in New York City, he resided in Queens, N.Y., before moving to North Brunswick 41 years ago. Mr. Gaal was a structural designer at Allied Resources, Marlton, working in Bensalem, Pa., the past 10 years. He served with the U.S. Army Reserve from the late 1950s to the early ’60s. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Milltown. Mr. Gaal was predeceased by a brother, Gary Gaal. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lattanzio Gaal; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bill Zimmerman of Jamesburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Denise Gaal of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Richard Gaal of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be held March 30 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 31 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. James N. Harvey

Mr. Harvey, 74, of Freehold, formerly of East Brunswick, died March 18 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Prior to his retirement 10 years ago, he was a chemical operator. Surviving are two sons, James N. Harvey of Baltimore and Jeffrey Harvey of Freehold; and a sister, Kathleen Schulhafer of Linden. A Mass was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Entombment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

Albert Hall

Mr. Hall, 82, of Spotswood, died March 22 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was employed by the Middlesex County Department of Public Works. His wife, Rose Cellura Hall, died in 1998. Surviving are two sons, Albert Hall III of Spotswood and Ronald Hall of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; two daughters, Marguerite Maher of Bayville and Carmella Tanasy of Jackson; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Richard J. Dowling Jr.

Mr. Dowling, 65, of South Amboy, died March 18 in Care One at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed as a machinist at Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville. Before that, he worked at National Lead Industries, Sayreville, and Chevron Oil, Perth Amboy. His wife, Carol Rehfuss Dowling, died in 1982. Surviving are a son, Michael J. of South Amboy; a sister, Joan Scheid of Rahway; an aunt, Mary Hawes of South Amboy; two sisters-in-law, Hilda Rehfuss Allen of South Amboy and Doris Rehfuss Turner of Cape May; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, also South Amboy.

Leona M. Carey

Mrs. Carey, 74, of South Amboy, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 18 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed as a nursing supervisor at JFK Medical Center, where she worked for 20 years. Surviving are her husband, James V. Carey; six children, Eileen Ust, Dennis Carey, Martin Carey, Ellen Carey, Jane Stolte and James Carey; a daughter-in-law, Louann Carey; three sisters, Anne Carey, Stefy Warren and Josephine Wojchievic; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Cremation was private. George E. Seppi

Mr. Seppi, 91, of Sayreville, died March 20 in Haven Hospice at JFK Hartwyck, Edison. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed as a supervisor at Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 37 years. His wife, Amelia R. Seppi, died in 1999. Surviving are a son, Ronald Seppi of Metuchen; a daughter, Beverly Kriskowski of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Melissa Mastorio Bessette

Mrs. Bessette, 29, of Sayreville, died March 19 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Samuel Mastorio, and by her maternal grandparents, Genevieve and Frank Bogaczyk. Surviving are her husband, Nelson Bessette; four children, Colin Brundage, Sarah, Haven and Cienna Rea Bessette; her parents, Samuel “Chickie” and Denise Sullivan Mastorio of Spotswood; two brothers, Scott Mastorio of Spotswood and Mark Mastorio of the Parlin section of Sayreville; her paternal grandmother, Verna Mastorio of Spotswood; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Rosalind Colterelli McBride

Mrs. McBride, 60, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 23 in Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, Browns Mills section of Pemberton. She was the recycling coordinator for the borough of Sayreville for the past 12 years. She was a member of the Sayreville Environmental Commission and the Solid Waste Advisory Commission. She was predeceased by her parents, Virginia and Theodore Colterelli. Surviving are her husband, James McBride; a son, William, and a daughter, Maureen, both of Parlin; two brothers, Claude Colterelli of Edison and Theodore Colterelli of Middletown; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Entombment was in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s local chapter of Green Peace.

Louis Gombos Jr.

Mr. Gombos, 97, of North Brunswick, died March 12 in Willow Creek Rehabilitation and Care Center, Somerset section of Franklin. He was the retired owner of two area businesses. Prior to that, he was a police officer in North Brunswick during the 1940s and 1950s, and was employed at E.I. DuPont, Parlin section of Sayreville. Surviving are his wife, Helen Beck Gombos; a son, Donald Gombos of Monroe; two brothers, Joseph Gombas of North Brunswick and John Gombas of Edison; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Church, North Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Frances A. Benyo Jasion

Mrs. Jasion, 75, of Sayreville, died March 20 in Haven Hospice at JFK Hartwyck, Edison. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a sales clerk at Karin’s Curtains, East Brunswick, where she worked for six years. Before that, she was a seamstress for many years at Brodsky and Sons, South River. Her husband, Emil, died in 1992. Surviving are two sons, Timothy and Michael Jasion, both of Sayreville. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Louise Johansen Jensen

Mrs. Jensen, 100, of South River, died March 20 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Axel Jensen; a daughter, Alice Brown; and a granddaughter, Anita Brown. Surviving are three children, George Jensen of Gainesville, Fla., and Robert Jensen and Elida Jensen, both of South River; a son-in-law, Arthur Brown of East Brunswick; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was private.

Barbara M. Davis Seaman

Mrs. Seaman, 85, of Sayreville, died March 11 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1976, she worked as a registered nurse for 30 years at South Amboy Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Seaman, and by a granddaughter, Natasha Seaman. Surviving are six children, Nancy Penland, Frank Seaman and Barbara Teleposky, all of the Parlin section of Sayreville, Judy Conley of South Dakota, Joseph Seaman of Florida and James Seaman of Monroe; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Carmen E. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Cremation was private. Maria Lischuk

Mrs. Lischuk, 56, of South River, died March 22 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Walter Lischuk; a daughter, Ann Marie Bilza of Rockaway; a son, Dr. Andrew Lischuk of South Amboy; two sisters, Lidia Carvallo and Katia Romaniuk, both of Argentina; a brother, Nicholas Romaniuk, also of Argentina; and two grandchildren. A service was held at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bound Brook. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Jerry A. Abes

Mr. Abes, 73, of South River, died March 12 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement, he was a cable technician with Okonite Cable, North Brunswick, where he worked for 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Rakita Abes; two daughters, Donna Campoli of North Brunswick and Marie Shalayda of Old Bridge; a sister, Judy Glass of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Services were held at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.

Donald C. Cota Sr.

Mr. Cota, 79, of Old Bridge, died March 14 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was the owner of G&C Roofing Co., Old Bridge, for 30 years. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jared Lee. Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie Bianchi Cota; three sons, Donald C. Cota Jr. of Freehold, Michael Cota of New Hampshire and Kenneth Cota of the Marlton section of Evesham; two sisters, Ruth DiGaudio of Carteret and Dorothy Hovey of Green Land, N.H.; and seven grandchildren. Services were held at Abundant Life Church of God, Freehold. Cremation was private.

Mary Anita Henry Pietschker

Mrs. Pietschker, of Spotswood, died March 4 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Francis J., died in 1994. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cecelia and Maurice Regan of East Brunswick; and her grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Crum and her husband, Jeffrey, and James Francis Regan. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was private.

Jerome Rosen

Mr. Rosen, 87, of South River, died March 1 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement, he taught industrial arts at South River High School for 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Martha Kirschner Rosen; a son, David of Bridgewater; and a grandson. Services were held at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick. Interment was in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
