Jackson Memorial Day

parade set for May 29

The Jackson VFW Post 4703 will be sponsoring this year’s Memorial Day Parade. Organizers are requesting that families of troops currently overseas contact the parade committee for participation in the parade.

Vinny Rubio, parade coordinator, said, “We want this parade to be what it should be and we need to get everyone involved … we would like to have everyone in this year’s parade. It’s not only about respect for those who served and fought for our country, but to show support for all our troops that are defending our country now.”

Rubio said organizers are hoping to get the involvement of all the township’s service organizations and veterans groups.

“We are expecting this to be one of the best Memorial Day parades we have presented in some time,” he said.

Rubio said organizers are expecting classic military vehicles, floats, youth organizations, schools and a special fly-by of a Black Hawk helicopter.

The parade will be held on May 29 at 10 a.m. Participants will line up at the municipal building at 9 a.m. Following the parade a Memorial Day lunch will be served at the VFW Post, Magnolia Drive. For more information, please contact Vinny Rubio at (732) 928-1787.
