FINANCIAL SERVICES
Auto insurance carrier New Jersey Citizen United Reciprocal Exchange (NJ CURE), has promoted its vice president of operations, Eric Poe to chief operating officer. Mr. Poe began at NJ CURE in 1994 and has served as a staff accountant, marketing director and vice president of operations. Under his guidance as head of operations, the company has doubled in size since 2002, and grown to insure nearly 50,000 vehicles in New Jersey and accumulate more than $81 million in assets.
Mr. Poe and NJ CURE have played a significant role in advocating consumer rights in the auto insurance industry, and, despite industry pressure, voluntarily chooses not to use credit scores, occupation and education for rating purposes. By working directly with policyholders, NJ CURE expedites its service while keeping costs down.
Peter Kelley has been promoted to vice president in the treasury department at TD Banknorth Inc. in Portland, Maine. He will continue to serve as an asset/liability analyst in the northeastern region. With the bank since 2005, he has seven years of experience in information technology, banking and finance.
Mr. Kelley, a native of East Windsor and a 1988 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Lawrence, currently resides in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
Amper, Politziner & Mattia, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, recently announced the following promotions to supervisor in the Princeton office: Gaye Eschenbach in the emerging business department; DeborahWeyman, Denise Richebacher, Kevin Douglas and Ledy Velez, all in the firm’s audit and accounting department.
CONSTRUCTION
Angus Clayton has joined Princeton Design Guild as construction manager. Most recently he was in charge of sales and marketing for Dunham Construction Services in Princeton. He also has experience as a furniture maker. Mr. Clayton is in charge of the daily construction operations for PDG.
Richard Carter was promoted to shop manager. He has full responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the custom woodshop in Belle Mead. He has worked with PDG for seven years as shop foreman and has over 35 years experience in the custom woodworking field.
Christina Daino and Trisha Snyder have joined the architecture division. Both work under the supervision of Kevin Wilkes AIA in the design team that leads the work of PDG.
Princeton Design Guild is a design/build collaborative with specialties in architecture, residential construction and custom woodworking.
HEALTH &MEDICINE
GPC Biotech has created three new senior positions, hiring three executives to expand its drug development and commercialization management teams in the company’s Plainsboro site. These appointments reflect the company’s expanding efforts in late-stage drug development activities and increasing focus on commercialization.
Dr. Martine George, hired as senior vice president, clinical division, is an oncology expert with more than 15 years of experience at major pharmaceutical companies, as well as several years as a practicing medical oncologist. Previously she was head of oncology at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development.
Dr. Ramona Lloyd has been hired as vice president, world regulatory affairs and quality compliance. She has 14 years of pharmaceutical regulatory experience and has held senior regulatory positions at major pharmaceutical companies. She joined GPC Biotech from Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she was vice president, global regulatory operations.
Margaret Ference has been hired as vice president, U.S. sales. She has 25 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including senior positions at several biotechnology companies. She will play a critical role as GPC Biotech moves forward with its plans for commercializing in the U.S.
GPC Biotech AG, headquartered in Munich, is involved in the discovery and development of new anticancer drugs.
MARKETING
Issues Management LLC has announced that Princeton resident Anne B. Burns has joined the firm as public relations specialist. Mr. Burns will work primarily with the firm’s business group Insight Communication, providing public relations and communication support to its corporate and nonprofit clients.
Ms. Burns most recently served as president of the Princeton Regional Board of Education where she spearheaded an $81 million construction referendum campaign and a superintendent search. Earlier in her career she served as an assistant press secretary to Gov. Brendan Byrne and press secretary to the late Ann Klein, NJ Commissioner of Human Services.
Issues Management, a unique public affairs company headquartered in Princeton and associated with the law firm of Lowenstein Sandler PC, provides expert advice to a diverse group of corporate and nonprofit clients in areas ranging from lobbying and regulatory work to advocacy campaigns, crisis communication, marketing and public relations.
Interlink Healthcare Communications has added depth to its medical and creative capabilities with two new staff appointments. Sara Mariani, MD, Ph.D., has assumed the post of medical director, joining a growing team of full-time medical professionals who work in tandem with the firm’s creative and marketing units to develop promotional and medical education programs for the firm’s pharmaceutical and medical imaging clients. She has more than 15 years experience in hematology, oncology and immunology; and Mike McMullen as assistant art director. He has eight years of advertising experience, most recently with Cannonball Advertising in Philadelphia.
Debbie DeAlmeida of Morrisville, Pa., has joined the accounting department of Oxford Communications. She previously worked in the accounting department of Hospital Partners of America of Charlotte, N.C.
Oxford Communications provides advertising, public relations and graphic design services. The company has offices in Lambertville and Manhattan.
NONPROFIT
Scotia W. MacRae has been named director of development at New Jersey Future, a statewide nonprofit offering research and analysis of land use policies and a founding organization in the national Smart Growth America coalition. She will oversee the planning and direction of corporate and individual membership programs and campaigns.
Previously with Mercer Street Friends of Trenton as director of communications, she also has experience serving as senior editor in marketing and communications at Merrill Lynch in Plainsboro and as opinion page editor at the Times of Trenton.
She and her husband, Richard Blofso, live in Princeton.
Princeton Area Community Foundation recently elected two new trustees:
Bordentown resident Marguerite (Mimi) Mount, currently a managing director of The Mercadien Group and a principal in Mercadien PC Certified Public Accountants. In addition to her professional associations, she is a member of the board of Preservation New Jersey, the American Red Cross, chairwoman of the City of Bordentown Historic Sites Committee and Gilder Park Task Force; and
Ram Kapur, currently chairman of Midland Pharmaceuticals and Global Pharmaceutical Serv. Mr. Kapur serves on the Board of Overseers of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and is a trustee of the Thomas Edison State College Foundation and Princeton Day School. He and his family reside in Princeton.
