Meetings planned for library groups and clubs

The Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, has scheduled upcoming meetings for its reading groups and clubs.

A meeting of the Savvy Seniors discussion group is set for 10:30 a.m. on May 11. The group meets every month in the library’s large meeting room to discuss topics including books, current events, hobbies, television, health and nutrition. Lunch dates and trips to Broadway shows, movies, etc., are scheduled throughout the year.

The library recently began a Scrapbooking Club. The group is led by an experienced scrapbooker. Individuals at any level of expertise are welcome. Members, who provide their own materials, work on individual or collaborative projects. Adults, teens and families are welcome. The group’s next meeting is set for 5 p.m. on May 16.

The next meeting of the Gardening Club is planned for 7 p.m. on May 17. Participants trade secrets and tips, plan visits to gardening centers and more. Discussion will focus on plans for the group’s second annual plant sale.

“I, Claudius” by Robert Graves will be discussed at the next meeting of the General Book Discussion Group planned for 7 p.m. on May 18.

“The Man in the High Castle” by Philip K. Dick will be the topic at the next meeting of the Science Fiction Book Discussion Group planned for 7 p.m. on May 25.

Patrons are sought for a nonfiction book discussion group that meets once a month. Interested individuals should call Marcy at (732) 721-5600, ext. 5034, for titles.

The Crafting Club meets weekly at 1 p.m. on Thursdays. A variety of crafts are undertaken, with a focus on knitting and crochet.

Dancing to the oldies

on tap in Old Bridge

Knights of Columbus Council No. 4815 will host an Oldies Dance beginning at 8 p.m. on May 19 at the council home, 40 Pine St., Old Bridge.

The event will feature dancing to the music of the ’50s and ’60s. Soda, cake, coffee and tea will be served. Dances are held on the third Friday of every month. Singles are welcome.

Two-day rummage sale

set at Spotswood church

The Elizabeth Circle of Spotswood Reformed Church will hold a two-day rummage sale from 4-8 p.m. on May 19 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 20 at the church, 429 Main St., across from the post office.
