Tickets available for Italian Night Dinner

Sayreville United Methodist Church, 406 Main St., will hold an Italian Night Dinner from 5-7 p.m. on June 10.

The menu will include meatballs, spaghetti, bread, rolls, green salad, dessert and beverages.

Tickets, which cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 12, may be purchased in advance or at the door. Takeouts will be available.

The fourth annual Kids Count Tricky Tray is set for 7:30-9:30 p.m. on June 2 at Kids Count Child Center, 1308 Englishtown Road, Old Bridge.

Lemonade sales will aid

pediatric cancer research

Michele Katora of East Brunswick, age 9, will hold her second annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 10 at 2 Biernacki Court, East Brunswick, corner of Old Stage Road, across from Spotswood ShopRite.

All proceeds will benefit the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. Receipts can be provided for tax-deductible cash donations.

Cold lemonade, bottled water, iced coffee and cookies will be available.

Choir Festival to end

concert series

The Presbyterian Church, West Church Street and Gatzmer Avenue, Jamesburg, will conclude its 2006 Concert Series at 7 p.m. on June 3 with its second semiannual Choir Festival, featuring the combined choirs of the Monmouth Presbytery and local churches.

Society Hill blood drive to benefit area hospitals

The Blood Center of New Jersey will sponsor a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 3 in the Society Hill Clubhouse, 400 Thames Drive, Old Bridge.

All donors will receive a free cholesterol test. A free continental breakfast, cookies and treats, coffee, tea and juice will be served.

Donors must be at least 18 years of age; 17-year-olds need parental permission. Participants must present a driver’s license or other photo identification and know their Social Security number. Individuals may donate blood every 56 days.

Blood donations will aid area hospitals.

Public invited to dance to music of big-band era

The Imperial Dance Band will play music of the big-band era at a dance set for 7:30-11 p.m. on June 10 at the Imperial Music Center, 48 Appleby Ave., South River.

The event will feature dancing and light refreshments. The public is welcome.

Law panel to offer wills, estate planning seminar

The New Jersey State Bar Foundation will present a free public seminar on wills and estate planning from 7-9 p.m. on June 13 at the New Jersey Law Center, One Constitution Square (off Ryders Lane), New Brunswick.

Topics will include wills and trusts, gift and tax planning, New Jersey probate procedures, power of attorney, living wills, federal estate tax and New Jersey inheritance tax.

A question-and-answer period will follow the presentations.

Contributions sought for vets monument fund

Donations are needed for the Combat Wounded Veterans Monument Fund of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 10. Funds are being raised to honor Middlesex County veterans of all wars who were combat wounded or killed in action. Plans are for a monument to be placed on the corner of George Street and Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, in front of the Heldrich Center and across from the State Theatre. The monument will honor all those who have earned a Purple Heart, the oldest and only medal that honors all branches of the military.

Checks or money orders may be made payable to Chapter 10 Purple Heart Monument Fund and mailed to MOPH Chapter 10, c/o Commander Joseph Belardo, 527 O’Donohue Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. The contribution will entitle the donor to an invitation to the monument’s dedication.

Hospital sets Children’s Health and Safety Fair

Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, will host its annual Children’s Health and Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to noon on June 3 (rain or shine) at the hospital’s main entrance, 254 Easton Ave.

The event, which is sponsored by the Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s, is designed to help parents and caregivers plan a safe, smart and healthy summer for their children.

Safety activities, such as basic life-support demonstrations, child car-seat safety checks and hand-washing techniques, will be offered. There will be interactive displays from community organizations including the American Red Cross, the Central New Jersey Maternal Child Health Consortium and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Also featured will be hospital services such as Community Mobile Health, the Pediatric Emergency Department and the Center for Diabetes Self-Management and Education.

to benefit Crisis Room

Aldersgate United Methodist Church will host its Church Indoor Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 9 in the white house next to the church, 568 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick.

Senior Chai offers trip to McCarter Theater Senior Chai, a program of Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Southern Middlesex County, will offer a June 11 trip to see “Ridiculous Fraud” at the McCarter Theater, Princeton. Interested participants will meet at the JFS office, 52 Concordia Shopping Center, Monroe.

Lunch is set for 12:30 p.m. Departure is planned for 1 p.m. Return will be at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Donation is $45, in advance. A light kosher lunch and transportation will be provided. Limited reservations will be accepted.
